Hope I'm not wasting people's time. I just found out about a new powder. I think it's sort of new on the market. It's called 'White powder' or 'White Hot powder' or something like that. Supposed to be a lot stronger than anything else out there including Triple Seven and make's a lot less smoke. Anybody know anything about it? I'm just curious and can't bring it up anywhere on the net..

You may be thinking of Clean Shot. It's white...and it makes less smoke...and what there is of it doesn't stink like rotten eggs. It's also much much less corrosive than black or Pyrodex.

1911A1Tuner..Is it as strong as Triple Seven? I'm not planning on changing just want to know..Thank you sir..
PS..Well hell, I'm not thinking here. I can bring up Clean Shot and read all about it....

Hell, I already know about Clean Shot. If it's the same powder I know I don't want any of it for sure. Some of that American Pioneer stuff. I put that junk in about the same category as I do Shockley's and Pyrodex..Just me..

I'll have to agree, though I've had pretty good results with Pyrodex...but I still prefer Goex.
I tried some Clean Shot just out of curiosity...and because a guy gave me a half bottle of it. My immediate feeling was that it was probably geared more toward reinactments than for serious charcoal shooters. It produces just enough smoke to look authentic, but not so much that it clouds the spectators' view...and it doesn't stink.

But does it have any real pep?
I love Black Powder...
While at the same time, I'm curious about what various other 'Bulky' Propellants can do.

They're called White Hots [pellets] and are made by IMR, a division of Hodgdon.
Apparently they only come in .50 caliber pellets and are like a top shelf 777.
Most folks were skeptical about them at first but most field reports indicate that they work well and that most people like them.
They were available at Gamaliel for less $ but right now they're out of stock:
Oyeboten, yes sir I think that is it. Anyway I'm not going to buy or use any of it. Not meaning to sound like a smart ass because lot's of people probably like it but I think I'll stick with my Triple Seven and if something happen's to it I'll go back to BlackMag....

Mr. Articap!! On top of everything as usual I see!! Evidently it wasn't what I was thinking it was. Well, dosen't matter I reckon. I don't shoot .50's but I do use loose powder. No pellets for me. I guess I'm just old and set in my ways. Thank you sir. Appreciate the information....

Why the negative comments about Shockey Gold? Its always performed well for me.

Well, I went to the Cabela's link Mr. Articap posted. 2300 fps is not too shabby. Hell, The United States Rifle 7.62mm Caliber M-14 only hit's at 2800 fps muzzle velocity. 2600 foot lbs of energy is not bad either. I translate that into stopping power/knock down power. Yeah, I guess a lot of people will pick up on them as the word get's around. I'd be willing to bet right now that as people start flocking to buy it (which they will) they'll come out with loads for the .45's. I still won't get it I reckon. I like dumping my loose powder from my flask. I'vd got a couple of pretty nice horns but I keep them hanging on the wall. Anyway, they have some pretty impressive reviews out there. It's the first time I'd ever heard of it. The rancher friend who sold me my Remington has a Remington in .50 caliber (700 series to) that he and his son hunt's with I found out yesterday. The reason I bring this up is because he told me he has a barrel on it that had to be shipped to a ffl guy and he had to pick it up from him. That's all I know about it. I didn't ask any nosy questions plus I was busy frying me some potatoes and had my mind on eating....

One could always grind up those 'pellets', or 'sticks', and fill one's Flask with the Powder!
I bet one of those little clear-top electric counter-top Coffee Grinders would make '5 F' if one wanted.
The 'APP' Web-Site seems to say they still offer loose Powder though...

Dispatch55126..Like I said, I didn't mean to sound like a smart aleck. Not meant that way at all. Actually I'vd never shot any of it in my life but I do know people (a few of them, not many) who have and they had lot's of negative things to say about it. Plus I'vd read some pretty rough things on here and on other forums about it. If I offended you please accept my appologies. Never speak ill of a man's choice in wine, women, music and guns (and powder) is my motto....(unless ya'll get off into a certain black powder handgun which I utterly despise and even then I'll stay out of it until the s*** get's so deep it's coming over the top of my 10 inch tall boots and then I finally just have to pipe in and set the record straight)

I learn something new every day on this site so I was asking if there was something that I didn't know. Shockey Gold is all that I've ever used and have had good results. I was curious as to if there was something that I was missing by not using something different.

I'm mostly interested in .54, .58, 12ga, 10ga, in long guns, and 44 revolvers.
I don't see anything but loose powder in my future.
I did notice it's getting 'more difficult' to find the real thing (Holy Black) and only GOEX around here.
I do buy & try the 'alternate' products. 777 has been the first one I've tried that seems to perform well, but be So Much Easier to Clean. It does clump up tho-.
Can't go wrong with the Original, but it shouldn't stop us from trying the new stuff too.:)

No sir! At reenactments we only use and are only allowed to use REAL black powder. Half the point is the smoke and the smell and the black lips and teeth from tearing cartridges in a hot spot. :) Just an FYI.
Then too we are trying to portray and honor a specific period in time and those men who fought then and it's only right to use the real thing. Anything else wouldn't be very authentic and while lots of reenactors are not as authentic as they should be at least the powder used is. The whole point is to show and educate about the black powder era.

Whoa Cap'n! I didn't say that's what ya'll use. I said that was probably the intended market for it. Reports are that it's not very popular among shooters and hunters, and several shops that carried it early on don't any more.

Oh yeah. I had about a quarter bottle of that Clean Shot left. Ran across it not long ago. Even though the cap was screwed on good and tight...it had turned into somethin' about as hard as concrete.

LOL!! Oh no worries!! I wasn't being short or snippy! Just wanted to throw it out there that we do use real black only though in case anyone was wondering!
If they intended it for reenactors they sure didn't do their homework! And then to hear that it doesn't even work well for hunters or shooters either makes for a pretty horrible product in my opinion. I mean what's the point?
I guess that's why I've always just stuck to real black for everything.

Sundance44's!!. Well, I use Triple Seven 3fff but you know what I done a few days ago? I made me a good pound of black powder. Yes sir, got my ball mill out (it's not a big one) and laid the screens out ready and mixed up the ingredients. Used a basic recipe that I had read of Scrat's on here and saved to an external disc probably over 2 years ago. I have a lot of recipes with little tips throwed in here and there to help it come out better and I kind of sifted through some of them until I arrived at a recipe I thought would be good. It is good Sundance. (I mean my small batch come out good). Easy ignition and plenty of punch. I know I'm not really anything special but I'd just about be willing to bet that my little bit of powder is superior to Goex in terms of velocity and range. I probably won't ever make any more the rest of my life unless maybe we have a big war or something and supplies become limited. Then I'll do whatever I need to do. Anyway, it had sort of been niggling around in the back of my mind for several years that I needed to get at least a working familiarity with it and I was just convinced that I could make some good powder. I reckon I did. But you know how it is Sundance. Like they alway's say----"HEIL TRIPLE SEVEN 3FFF!"....

smokin gun..Thank you sir! That one just went to my favorite's list to be saved later to an external disc. (external hard drive) Isn't it amazing? We use sugar in almost everything we eat or drink and never stop to think about how just plain ol' sugar will greatly enhance any explosion. (except maybe a nuclear device. I'm not too up on them) Thank's again 'gun....

GOTC they say sugar is for burnin' and gives you energy...guess they din't lie :O)
I can say this cause my x-wife is Italian and I was a Familia member for 20 years. Actually still am ... two God Children an a sisterinlaw.
Why din't the Italian Rev makers do something to use Pasta for gunpowder?
Carbs? Surgar? Que Possa?
Well Maybe not it's better to eat the Pasta with sauce and wine I guess ...

I use White Hots pellets in my CVA Electra. Can shoot 30+ times without swabbing even with tight fitting sabots and it will still put the last 3 shots in well under 1 inch at 100 yds.
CVA has a money back guarantee if you use this powder and powerbelt bullets in the electra, shoot it for 10 days and if you don't think it's the best muzzle loader you've ever shot they will refund the price of the rifle!
I will be keeping mine.
Oh yeah, after shooting at the range I only needed 4 patches and just a little plain water to clean my rifle. 2 wet, 2 dry, DONE!
