Do you use a powder flask? I have two different measure one for rifles & a smaller one for revolvers, but was thinking if I shoot the revolvers much then one of those flask that throw a fixed charge that would make reloading faster?

If you shoot on a range at a club you might have a problem. All the ranges
that I have ever shot at will not allow you to charge your piece with a flask.
You can pour from a flask into a seperat measure then pour that into your
piece, But you cannot use the measure that is on the flask, fill it from the
flask then pour. Hope this makes sense.

I'm going to get alot of flak for saying this, but I eyeball my pistol charges. Since I can see each cylinder, I can see when its "roughly" the proper load. Doing this, I haven't noticed any difference in POI from my 1861 Navy.

TomADC, if you're using GOEX from the 1 lb metal can, some of the suppliers
(Track of the Wolf, Possible Shop) sell an adapter lid for the can. The adapter has a small spout and valve so you can charge fro the can into your powder measure. I would think that it doesn't matter if the can is for ff or fff the threads for the adapter lid should be the same so you could switch back and forth.
At the end of the day you remove the adapter lid and replace it with the original can lid. It works great and I think it's cheaper than buying a flask.

You can go to Dixie Gun Works & get these rubber tubes that are great for having a lot of pre loaded tubes with the ball & powder in them, I've had most of mine since my N-SSA days 20 years ago so they last pretty much for ever.
After a big shoot or like now after I've cleaned up my guns I'll sit at the coffee table with my powder, tubes, & bullets & reload em up for the next session.

Sometimes the lever mechanism on my pistol flask won't close completely
due to being clogged with loose powder and it will keep pouring. Can't rely on
the spring return and have to remember to push the lever closed. When I was using
Pyrodex it would sometimes clump and block the spout so you wouldn't get a
full charge. Haven't had that problem since I switched to Goex.

Making 'Combustible Cartridges' is also a nice way to go...
Make at leisure, and, bring a bunch of them to the Range...

Yes, I use a flask with assorted sized spouts to charge cylinders on my C&Bs for CAS competition. I've used them for so long that I have worn out a couple levers on flask heads. There is virtually 0% possibility of an ember igniting powder in a C&B when reloading.
For single shot pistols and ML rifles; however, I only use an adjustable or non adjustable powder measure that is filled from a powder horn or powder can. The Horn or can is nowhere near the muzzle when pouring the powder down the barrel for safety reasons. I have seen; but not experienced myself, powder being ignited when being poured down the barrel.

Here's what a lot of the shooters at Friendship use. It fits in a powder can
and you just pick up the can and pour your charger full then sit it back down.
Automatic opens and closes.

I'm with FingersMcGee, I have the 5 piece thread in measuring tube kit that fits the CVA flask. I also have the telescoping powder measure with the slide over funnel for charging rifles.
Like Dispatch 55126, I fill my revolver cylinder 'by eye' I also fill it with the cylinder removed from the frame. I use a 'spoon' made from a drinking straw or folded paper to even out the charges. I fill all of them, set the cylinder in the frame, and press in the balls with the lever.
After reading in this forum about the well made but unobtainable cylinder loader, I'm thinking about making my own. then it would make sense to get a Lyman #55 blackpowder safe powder measure to set up with it as a loading station.
Kind of overkill, but what the heck, this is a hobby for excessive compulsive people, right?

You mean like this? Just hold your cyclinder under the spout and crank the
handle to charge.

I have always loaded my revolvers directly from a flask with a known spout size. If I want to try a different size charge I use an adjustable measure. My rifles are loaded with an adjustable measure filled from a horn or flask.
kwhi, that's a cool spout, who makes that one? I have not seen one before.
