Duece Magnums for Turkeys...?

Whenever I read about Turkey hunting it usually involved
5-6 shot for the first head shot followed up by 2 magnums for
additional shots. Looking for 3 inch 2 magnums seems an exercise
in futility. Winchester and Federal show 4-5-6 loads but no dueces
whatsoever....what gives....?

I use #5 when turkey hunting.
Used to carry a Winchester 1400 with 2 3/4" #5 turkey loads.
That has since been replaced with a Mossberg 835 with 3 1/2" #5 loads.
Some folks use the bigger bb's for the second shot just in case the bird takes to the air. That way the bb's will penetrate feathers and such.
Pattern your gun with #5 shot and know your acceptable distance. Be patient and wait for a good head shot. If your patient and wait for the right shot then there shouldnt be a need for a follow up should the bird take flight.
Doesnt mean it never happens but if you pattern your gun and do everything your suppose to, then the shell and shot will do its part.
