All,
I am trying to decide between a used SIG 220 in .45 or a Walther P99 9mm. Both are in the $500 range.
Give me input and ideas. How about mag prices, holster ideas, issues etc etc.
This will be a carry gun while hunting and range use.

Greeting's AxeMan-
Well, IMHO this decision is very easy. Both firearms being
from a family of quality reputation; a .45 caliber SIG P220
will shoot circles around the Walther. Learn to master
the SIG's double-action first shot, and everything else is
quite natural.

I'd go w/ the p99. If you look around, you can still find hi cap mags for it too ;)

I'd be leaning towards the Sig if its in good shape, unless you have some kind of James Bond fixation with the Walther.

Have both,
Both have been flawless,
Get the SIG.
The P99 is nice and probably the nicest plastic pistol I have seen but it is no SIG. The 220 is awesome.
Course I am a bit of a SIG nut so take my advice for what it is worth. I do honestly feel the P220 is a better pistol but the reality of it is both have been excellent, durable, accurate etc.

As one is .45 and the other is 9mm (though it's avail in .40), it depends on what you prefer to shoot. Have you tried each? My P99 is a great CCW piece and fun & reliable to shoot at the range, but for bullseye I pickup my BHP or 1911. For SIG, I've used a 226 9mm, very nice, quite a bit, but not the 220.
