Have any of you sized down 270win cases to 25-06?

If so, how did you do it?

If you used bushings, which ones did you use?

Thanks,
Ray

I have done it with just a FL 25-06 size die. Trim to length after.

I don't have any dies for the 25-06, I do have bushing dies for the 270win.
Can I use the Seating die for the 270?

It's a pretty straight forward procedure as ~z noted. You just have to make sure that the brass doesn't thicken too much in the case neck requiring neck reaming. Important if your chamber is a tight one.
Chances are they will be fine.

maybe in a "survival situation" but I'd recommend getting the dies if you intend to load for that cal

I make 25-06 out of 30-06 with one pass through the FL sizing die.

You do have to neck-ream them after forming though.

Get the right dies.

Can use the 270 seating die?

For around 20 bucks you could get Lee green box dies that come with the correct seater die+plug for 25-06 as well as the 25-06 full length sizer. Just a thought.

Some sizing wax makes reforming cases a little easier and like mentioned check neck thicknesses and lengths after they are formed.

Thanks, "flashhole". That was very informative.
I need to try annealing, I also resize 357mag to 256win mag.

What kind of gun is your 256 Win Mag. That is an interesting cartridge.

My 256win mag is a Marlin 62. It is a sweet little rifle.

I don't have a 270 so any good looking 270 brass I pick up get made into 25-06. Clean, check, lube, FL size to 25-06, trim and check neck dimensions. Could at this point fire form and neck size, also use some 06.

I use mostly 30-06 "Greek" brass with the HXP headstamp. It works as well as any other brass I've re-sized and I get plenty of it for free at the range. I have around 200 or so that have all been re-formed and fire-formed. They work great.
