Hello

A buddy of mine has a winchester model 88 .308

last hunted with it 6 years ago and it has sat uncleaned eversince

he took it out to hunt this year and it has some ejection and feed issues nothing serious

I'm thinking a real cleaning should solve the issue so if we remove the stock do we have to be concerned about any springs that will shoot out or any small parts they we may not be able to figure out how to put back into place

not planning to dissemble anything just take the stock off to spray some gun scrubber into and take a tooth brush to then finish off with a coat of clp.

would be nice to pull the bolt out to give a scrubbing to but don't want to mess up something i'm not overly familar with

Thanks

You can take it out of the stock without problems.
DO NOT even attempt to strip it any further then that unless you know what slave pins are and how to make & use them!

Here is some info that may help. A lot of the Model 100 semi-auto take-down & cleaning info also applies to the Model 88 lever-action.
