Found a HUGE scrape, maybe 3 feet by 3 feet that was very fresh Sat morning. Sat there all day long. At 5:30 this monster walked up. Non typical 9 pointer. He has 3 main beams.

One of the most exciting hunts in my life.

Shot him at about 100 yards through some thick brush with a 45/70 GG. Hit him through both lungs. He ran maybe 20 yards and died. Woohoo!

Very nice.

I, also, shot the largest buck of my life last night. Thanks to the nearby hunting club- and their VERY eager Beagle, I found him, too.

I too killed a three antlered non-typical deer with my Marlin 45-70. I know the feeling.:D Woo Hoo indeed. We could be cosmic brothers or something in some new age sort of way.:D

Nice, I wish I was doing the same thing.
Where did you get it ? You don't list a location.

That was what they had on when they got the deer ?

Nice buck!
What is your load?
I shot a 4x4 Elk with my guide gun last weekend. I use Rem 405 handloaded to about 1700-1800FPS We estimated the live weight was 600-700lbs. I shot it at about 50 yds and all I saw was feet in the air.
Mine has the Burris 2.75X scout scope and a magnum recoil pad.

Was there a lot of blood shot meat?

bloodshot meat. It went through both lungs and made mince meat of his ribs, but I rarely mess with rib meat anyway. I probably would have on this one since he was so big, but oh well.

I was shooting factory 300 gr remingtons. I've got a 2.5 scope on mine and a recoil pad as well.

I didn't feel the recoil, but MAN! did I hear the shot. My ears were ringing for a while afterwards.

You RIFLE hunters are so lucky. Good example of why we handgun/shotgun hunters miss so many nice bucks. :banghead:

backstrap...........backstrap..........backstrap...........

One of my favorite childhood memories is when my grandfather would kill a deer and hang it up to dress in the barn, my grandmother would always take a few cuts of the meat, right off the bone, and go in the house and fry it up, and bring it back out to the men working on the deer as a treat.

Fresh fried venison strips on a paper towel on a big plate.
