I'm looking to further the prophecy that the AR15 is becoming America's hunting rifle with this thread. So please if you've met with success in the field hunting with an AR15 or any other "EBR" please post about it.
I'm looking for pictures of the kill and hardware used and info about ammo and the firearm.
One thing this thread is NOT going to be is a chance for folks to voice their displeasure or opposition to whatever cartridge is used.
If you can't say something nice don't post anything at all

250 gr. Barnes TSX
Custom upper by "Marty ter Weeme".
Built the rifle for a dedicated "Hog Gun", but works fine on Whitetail too.

My Nephew took these two hogs with one shot from my .458 SOCOM when they made the mistake of "lining up".
Distance: 40 yds.
Ammo: Corbon 300 gr. hp

SUCCESS!
Colt 603 upper, Retro A1 AR15
223rem 55grn sierra gameking SPBT loaded over a max charge of H-335
range was no more than 30yds, two shots were fired my placement on the first shot for whatever reason wasn't too great striking high and farther forward than I would have liked. After being hit this deer jumped what had to be 10 feet straight up and got about half a stride away before I shot him again (one of the benefits to the AR) my second shot was apparently a CNS hit to the neck because his next and last move was to make a rather spectacular face plant into the creek (splash!):D
even though my first shot was kinda poor it's placement did a great job of showing what this bullet can do. It went through one leg, shoulder, ribcage on both sides and ended up somewhere greater than the depth of 3/4 of my index finger but less than exiting into the off shoulder. The neck shot was through and through with a good ragged dime sized exit.

I was hunting down a big angle at about 40-45 yds using my 357mag from a tree stand. I couldn't get a good shot at the doe so I let it walk. Thats when a spike came into view. BANG and a miss. BANG and another shot under the deer. He looked up at me and ran off to about 65-70yds and stopped. He turned to give me a broad side shot and BANG, dinner on the ground.
What the deer didn't realize is I hunt with 2 firearms, a handgun for under 50yds and a rifle for over 50yds. He got poked by a Stag Arms 6.8SPC using SSA110grain soft point. He weighted in 125 (121 on the hoof) with an inline scale.
In behind the left shoulder and out the right. Destroyed the right shoulder.

Sorry for the dark pic, my cell isn't the greatest picture taker.
Taken on 11/18/2009.
Homeloads of 120gr Nosler Ballistic Tips and VV540 powder, offhand I don't remember the charge but I think they are right at 28.5gr. I don't have my data with me at the moment.

hope this works, not a pix but a vid. watch then read below
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hiU7Uq1wlbg
first day of anterless deer, iron sights on a cloudy and rainy day. can barely see my sight picture and i kinda rushed my shot at about 50 yards. barely scrapped the lower chest area. found white hair but no blood. 55gr hornady tap. sorry not a kill just thought it would be cool to share. camera is HD but i don't know how to put it on youtube. i had to converted hd to mp4, then edit so vid quality is bad. there's still the late hunt, hopefully a kill vid this time.

10.5” 5.56 with an AAC M4-2000-08 using 55 grain FMJ’s. It never had a chance, it didn’t even move from his first shot before the second landed.

How about a evil black tupperwear pistol?
One with the above AR and one with a 4" XD9 and Federal 124gr +P+ JHP's :neener:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v326/lrc4x4/deer2-1.jpg
None of these deer ran more than 25yds. The pistol shot was at less than 20' vaporizing the heart, the rifle shots were at about 25yds and 100yds one in the neck, the other in the heart/lung

here's a 200lb piggie dropped by my yugo underfolder earlier this year.
it was "interesting" to get this fugger to finally drop to say the least. he was pist!
since then quite a few pigs have met their match to my 7.62x39 rifles.....
so i built a .223 16" AR pig dispatcher. not too impressed with it.
so now i have a 336 30-30 from 1962 that is going with me tomorrow to go dispatch some pigs and deer :D

December 12, Kent County, Texas; Rio Grande Turkey, 7" beard, 1" spurs.
Used a 16" Midlength custom built 6.8SPC to do the damage.
The obligatory spur shot:

My 7 year old son killed his first deer with an AR in .223, DPMS super lite upper, Larue mount and 2X Aimpoint. A 65 grain HP to the neck was more than this little buck could bear, he didn't even twitch when the hammer fell, but I sure did!!

Here's a few of ours. Ar-10's and Ar-15's, chambered in .223, .243 WSSM and .308. They are all topped with either 6x Gen3 night scopes or thermal weapon sights, and most are suppressed.
http://www.tacticalhogcontrol.com/clark/goggles and guns.jpg
Here's a few friends after a night of hog control.....I think their total was 16 hogs and 2 coyotes. Our personal record for one night is 23 hogs + 1 pasture poodle.

No...we have some videos on YouTube but Rod, owner of Jager Pro, is in Georgia. We're in Central Texas. We have some of the same equipment that he does....thermal weapon sights, night vision scopes and night vision goggles. Our weapons of choice are AR10's, chambered in .308, but we also use a couple of AR15's (.223 and .243 WSSM)
While we always strive for a quick, clean kill, the .308 is a lot more effective on those secondary running shots. Tha ammo is more expensive, but it's worth it in the long run.
The .223 is great for some women and children because of the reduced recoil. That, along with our suppressors, make for a more enjoyable hunt.

Nice looking setup. Have a standing invite from APHIS to go out on a helicopter flight nighttime hog elimination patrol. Was going to do it this last fall but got caught up with work travel, looking like we may do it next month.
Night vision and suppressed .308s sound good to me :)

Great thread and pics; very sorry to disappoint the thread; had so hoped to pony up here, but alas, my excursion with DPMS LR-260L in.260 rem with Nikon Omega 1.65-5x36mm turned up nothing this weekend (last chance to hunt deer with gun this year). And I hunted hard and had some nice setups over lots of tracks in the new snow.
Only two deer I saw were *right*by the road staring at me during daylight, driving in about 1/2 mile from hunting area. I'm not a road hunter (yet), so ya know.... Boy was I ever ready and anxious to pop a meat doe, and I'm sure the DPMS would have done the job, but it was not meant to be. :(
Skunked is not the word for what's happened to me this year (bow, primitive, gun). I think I've been "Weaseled"....or something.
