Trying to Put Together a Post-Ban AR

I have wanted an AR for a while now and am considering buying one very soon because prices seem to have come down some. I want one that is to the left of the infamous chart, such as such as a Colt 6920, or a BCM because I plan to use it for home defense and some intense carbine courses later on.

The one that appeals to me the most is a Bravo Company mid-length rifle. The problem is that I live in New York and we still have an assault weapons ban. I could always replace the collapsible stock with a RRA Entry stock, and grind off the bayonet lug but I have no idea what can be done about the flash suppressor. If I remove it, the barrel is still threaded underneath.

Do any of the higher end AR manufacturers make ban compliant uppers? I know that LMT makes whole rifles, but I'm just looking for the upper. A non threaded barrel would be preferable to one with a generic break welded on so I can just have it threaded for a flash hider when I move out of NY after I graduate college.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You might try contacting BCM on the phone or through their website to see if they can build something for your situation. BCM is a fairly small company with a very good customer service reputation. Unless for some reason they are not able to, I would think that they might want to help you out. I mean, what are talking about here for compliance, no bayo lug, a fixed stock, a muzzle break instead of a FH, and 10 round mags? That should be fairly simple for them to modify an existing upper and lower to comply with such a silly little law.

I have a BCM mid-length by the way, and it is everything I wanted and more. Its like the energizer bunny of the AR world. I Couldn't be happier with it.

Hmmmm, I never even thought of calling BCM and making a request. I'll definitely try that. Thanks.
