So I picked up my "new" (circa 1926) MN at the dealer today. The State required that I purchase a cable lock for the chamber in order to be able leave the store and take it home.

These locks are easy to install on guns w/ removable clips, but I can't figure
out how to install it properly on the MN w/o removing the trigger action
assembly. Is there a quick fix or is this type of lock totally useless here?

I'm storing the rifle temporarily in my lockable BP gun case for now.

remove the magazine base plate (open and squeeze together and it will come right off) then open the bolt, run the cable through the open magazine and breach and lock it up.

The magazine floor plate can be removed by opening it and squeezing the follower spring down, then pulling it out. Very simple.

Hope you enjoy your new rifle, remember to clean after shooting, using procedures suitable for corrosive ammunition!

You could also remove the bolt, put the lock through the rear of the receiver, and stash the bolt somewhere else.

I've removed the bolts from a few bolt guns if I wanted to disable them but didn't have anywhere to lock them up.

The problem with these locks is that they don't keep someone from just grabbing the gun and walking away with it.

That's why I can't see those laws. If I am concerned about someone having access to a gun while I'm away, I'm going to lock it in a safe, not put a cable lock through the action.
