The dork gun has arrived.

Sig's 1911 "Me too" gun (http://www.sigarms.com/products/gsr-models.asp?product_id=197)

I honestly, deep down, was hoping that it was all hype.
Just to draw us off in the wrong direction, so they could unveil my new 10mm, but alas.
Sig sold out.

If I can give the Glock 37 a chance, I can do the same w/ the SIG.

I happen to like it. I don't really understand why people are putting Sig down for making a 1911 clone. So it's another 1911....what's wrong with that? The more choices out there the better as far as I'm concerned.

What exactly makes it a "dork" gun?

Cool. I love 1911s, I try to like SIGs (though most of their models don't really do it for me). This might be a strong contender for me (when I leave MD anyway, this gun is illegal here- no built-in lock). My only problem with it is the stupid accessory rail. Those just seem out of place on a classic gun like a 1911 (and I'm not too crazy about them on more "modern" designs either). Oh well, can't have everything, and not all 1911s have to be traditional. Heck, having the name "SIG" on it isn't really traditional anyway.

I'm not sure why it would be "selling out," but I don't want one anyway. The external extractor and rail take it too far away from the original design.

Anybody have a street price for this piece? I'm curious if they're going for the "fairly-affordable" market or if they're gonna go head-to-head with the "high-end-custom" market.
