Are you insane?
It's my day off.
There's no way you could get me to watch that tripe on a day that I'm not getting paid for it.

Its over and they did not blame the gun they laid it at an overbearing, misguided father ( rightly )

Right - at first I thought that it might have been the standard TV network blame-the-gun-game, but it really wasn't.
In the very beginning, without having a clue of how far the shots were coming from, how could they have determined the speed of the bullet? They said at 3,000 fps or so, and from that they determined the range of one of the shots at over 1450 yards. Oh well, as has been said, at least they didn't blame the gun.

They also determined from 'striations on the bullet' that the rifle had an 'extra long barrel'!
Wonder how THAT works?

In an early scene they did a bit about how "assault weapons" were registered, but those high powered relics like the sniper rifle wasn't.
Watch out for the Sniper Rifle Ban coming soon.

Just curious, but what kind of job do you have ?
Please don't say " I'm an airport security screener."

Well, I found out by watching that
1. The normal sniper round has a muzzle velocity of 2550, but when handloaded, it's "over three grand."
2. Genuine M40A1 sniper rifles are readily available over the counter.
3. They started making Unertl 'scopes again "for collectors"
4. The gun shop owner could use his M40A1 to shoot a 6" cluster at 1400 yards.
5. Ordinary scopes used by SWAT snipers have night vision capability.
Amazing what an education you can get from watching shows like this.
Anyway, on earlier episode, I remember they nabbed a bad guy - IIRC a drug dealer - who said that as an American citizen he had rights and wanted a lawyer. The response was something along the lines of "You're an enemy combatant, and according to the Patriot Act, you have no rights and we're shipping you down to Guantanamo Bay!"

HankB,
You only get those high velocities by "handpacking" your ammo. I blew soda out my nose when I heard that one!
All in all, it was a piece of junk.
