heres a question that im interested in learning from.
when you use your black powder cartridge burner in the field for pot shots at rabbit and the like, how many rounds do you consume per day in the field?
how many reloads do you normally take?
how long are you out burning ammo? over weekend camping hunt, or just wake up in the morning and walk along the neighbors fenceline and see what pops up?

I don't do black powder catridge....yet.
I'm just using front stuffers, but I shoot once per day if I don't see anything to shoot during the day, just to make sure I didn't bump the sights or anything. Then I clean the gun. I reload it in the morning the next day. I carry a few reloads in the field, and a full cap n ball revolver. If I'm hunting serious like, I do the minimum amount of shooting so I don't scare the game, But if I'm just shooting for fun, I don't go far from the reloading supplies (at the cabin).
So I usually go to field with about 9 shots worth. 54 caliber and 44 caliber.
I've got a B-P shotgun now, but I haven't fielded it yet. First I have to get the right "possibles" so I can reload it and do some basic service to the gun from a bag.

When I was hunting I would carry 5 loads. More than that was dreaming as I found out. Unless I am out shooting varmints. Then I carry 10.
When target shooting I will carry enough rounds to shoot the entire course at least twice. I once showed up at a match and had left my ammo 3 hours away. As I was packing up to leave a fellow competitior staked me enough ammo to shoot the match. I have never forgotten that and have always carried enough to pay it forward. And I have been graced to be able to do that twice since then.
When plinking, I arry as much as I feel I will need. Depends on the day and how I feel. With cartridges, usually 50 revolver rounds and with rifles maybe 25 or 30.
