I had a TO3-17 Tula Arms 22 given to me and am curious how old it is.
Number stamped on the receiver and the bolt is 16995.
Started checking into it and couldn't stop. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Other than post war, I don't know of any source that breaks down the serial numbers as per year.

These were built during the late 1950s, but were quickly replaced by other designs; have you had it out of the wood? On many of their shotguns, at least, they included a year of proof when they tested them at the factory.

If you find any more info about it, please let me know. I have one also, serial 99xx, and have no idea the age. Does yours have 2 letters before the serial # on the left side of the receiver? Mine has an (backwards) R and an N

JHK94, the Russians would normally put one or more letters as part of their serial numbers on their guns (in the form "AB1234"), but since their alphabet isn't the same as ours, most people just skip right over them. Is the "N" an N like in English, or is it a backwards N? The backwards R is their character for "ya", and they use a reversed "N" for their "I", but they've also been known to use a Western N standing for "number". HTH.

The receiver # is C 16995
Only info I do have is from looking up Tula Arms on the internet
Which means not much. But the history of the arms plant is interesting.

Moosecaller, there's a small page on the TOZ-17 at http://www.hunt4u.ru/toz-17.htm , that says these rifles were built only during 1956 and 1957, but I don't know if that's written in stone. Hope this helps.
