They are not that great, I will give you 50 bucks plus shipping so that you can have more room for a better rifle..................just kidding, they are pretty good shooters

Got one. My grandfather was competative with it. I am not.

parts - http://www.havlinsales.com/ (great source for the plastic hand guards if they are cracked.

history etc. - http://www.cobs.com/lprgc/m44faq.htm

the (a) on it indicates that it is a surpluss rifle. They were used as trainers for the Army if I remember my history correctly. Solid little guns. There is some guy out there that actually modified his with an extendable buttstock and cheek piece as well as removing the barrel band and bedding the action. It turned out to be a nice looking rifle, and he says it is as accurate as anything he ownes. I can't find the link now though.

modified mossy 44. http://zeus.ia.net/~bhawks/M44.htm

His email bounces back though. It is an old page, but I can't get ahold of him to find out about the stock modifications (I have tried.).

Built for the US Army as training rifles during WWII. I had one that I purchased from CMP, and it was deadly accurate. You've got a good 'un there, take care of it and hang on to it and your grandkids will get to enjoy shooting it.
