arived in my stand around 0545 calm and cool made a drag with some Tinks 69
lost my whick so instad of hanging it where i wanted to I had to go get into my lader. Around 0600 to 0615 I hear movement and grunting I look to my right and see bodys moving (still to dark to shoot) they start cercling and then next thing you hear is clashing horns and grunting heavy breathing the fight lasts around 45sec to 1 min they part one goes behind me with a 3rd body (i assume a doe) the other comes tward me stops about 15 yds right under my feet my heart is about to jump out of my chest and i dont dare to breath.. he moves off to my left and disapears (still to dark to shoot) im like on cloud 9 for all the excitement and sitting there in disbelef in what had just happend. Now its starting to get light around 0640 and I see movement behind some trees next i see horns they extend out past his ears so he is a leagl deer (we hunt in a horn restited county)he starts moving along where i walked with my drag I age the deer around 4 years old so he is a shooter..
waiting for a clear shot he makes a hard left and moves out into the open
I grunt and he stops about 40 yds away. I dont remember pulling the trigger but I see the hair move and the bullet inpact behind him he runs about 60 yds and tips over. My contender in 7-30 waters is now broke in and what a story. im searry for being so long winded but what a day..:D

thats a pretty good looking rack! Nobody I know has had any success up here yet, though I did see 5 does in my back yard yesterday about noon.

Nice Contender! First one I ever shot was a 7-30 Waters. I went directly to the gun shop and ordered one that same day. :) Nice deer too.

Yup. The pickins in Michigan have been slow at best. I saw two does on the neighbor's land, and that was all.

Nice buck!!

I regretted leaving my pistol at the house this morning. For some odd reason, I didn't take it. I had 7-8 deer approach within 10 yards of me...and none of them spooked (I'm sitting on the ground at the base of a tree FWIW). I wasn't going to waste a 300 Win Mag round on a doe at that range, but if I had my Witness .45 or Dan Wesson .357 I sure would have put one down!

Nice deer, but I wouldn't want to be the person taking the picture.

Muzzles pointing towards me do bad things to my "nervous" system.

Tripod perhaps?

Watch out for that vicious dog stalking you in the background
