Picked up a pre-m10 M&P yesterday. About 90% blueing and orig grips still in good shape. Serial # is s 967xxx which makes the manufactured date late 1947. The action is smoother and lockup is tighter than my F-Comp.

The thread title confused me as I was thinking in terms of the # of screws on an adjustable sight Ruger. There's only four and when five were mentioned, Did I miss something? Read the thread and the mystery has been solved. Congratulations.

Ruger357:
Does your "new" Smith & Wesson have fine checkering on the hammer spur, or is it courser like the ones they make today?
