Has anyone done this?

I have recently acquired several 25-lb. bags of shot for shotgun reloading. I don't load scatterguns, and doubt that I ever will. (I'm only interested in loading for several pistols that I enjoy shooting.) So I'm thinking of possibly selling these bags of shot...

One gentleman has told me that I should hold on to them in case it become hard to find lead. Another has opined that such lead is not the kind that I would want to melt down and cast into pistol bullets. If you have ever melted such as these bags that I have and have successfully turned them into pistol bullets, I'd appreciate your insights/suggestions. Thanks! :D

Depending on the shot type, it could have from 0 to approximately 6% antimony. It will also, (or should), be coated with graphite. Currently, shot in my area is going for between 25 and 35 per bag - depending on type and which store you go to.

You might want to go to your local shotgun club - I'm sure you will be able to sell it rather quickly. Then take the money and buy some bullets

Yep!
Sell the shot and buy some scrap lead suitable for bullet casting at the salvage yard, or wheel-weights at the corner gas station.
You will be time, money, and better bullets ahead.

Many thanks for the replies, gents. Looks like I need to find a new home for these bags of shot.
