I'm looking to buy myself a Dillon 550...getting tired of the old Rockchucker...effective, but too slow.

If I buy direct from Dillon, it's about $330 with the conversion kit of choice (and from what I've read on this forum, I may just buy it from them because they're a great company worth keeping in business)

Then there's a guy on Gunbroker whose starting price is $250-this guy is always there selling for the same price, plus he sells parts for 10% off Dillon's price.

And occasionally on shows up on ebay for less.

Should I go for less cost, or just go straight to Dillon?

BTW, if I went through an auction site, would the transaction sneak past Paypal?

Dillon presses hold their value very well, and Dillon stands behind all their stuff, even after 100,000 rounds and several owners.

If you want to buy new, go through BrianEnos.Com (call him!) and save 10%.

BTW, PayPal would never notice.

I saw a 550 with two die sets and so I would assume 2 caliber conversions in the local classifieds paper for 110 bucks. Guy sold it half hour before I called. :banghead:

For brand new order from Brian(nice person). You can get used from eBay. Just don't go bid crazy. I have used PayPal on my Dillon purchases from eBay.

Buy from Enos, he is a stand up guy.

Buy the other parts from Enos and Dillon. You get your money's worth paying "full retail" on everything Dillon sells.

There's a guy selling 550Bs on eBay for that price, only without the conversion kits or dies (thus the crazy low price). I think he's taking them from the kit and selling them separately: be careful and read the entire description.

Ditto for Brian Enos. Buying from a reputable, authorized reseller is just like buying direct from Dillon. Brian will take care of you.

I'm currently watching a used on on ebay with .45ACP die set and converters...hanging at just under $220, waiting til Friday.

I watched nearly all of the 550's on eBay for several months. I am thinking of selling mine and buying a new one just to get the freshest of parts revisions without bothering Dillon. Hopefully that gives you an idea of what Dillon loaders are going for on eBay. Most times they go for what a new one would have cost + shipping, or more.

On used Dillon equipment Brian Enos allows it is worth 75% of the original cost. I bought an XL650 with many extras through eBay.I paid $570.00 for all of it. Sold what I didn't need. Now I have $456.00 in it. New price on what I kept is $728.00, 75% of that is $546.00. I think I got a good deal. Figure out what you're willing to pay and stick to it. Don't get impatient, there are plenty of Dillon presses for sale on eBay.
