Jessica Lynch Laments Military Portrayal

(AP) - Former prisoner of war Jessica Lynch accused the military of using her capture and dramatic nighttime rescue to sway public support for the war in Iraq. Dramatic video of U.S. commandos whisking the former Army supply clerk from a Nasiriyah hospital to a waiting chopper April 1 helped cement Lynch's image as a hero. But the 20-year-old private told ABC's Diane Sawyer there was no reason for her rescue to be filmed.

The question should be...

Why is there not a Patrick Miller TV movie? This is the guy that killed at least 7 Iraqis trying to get a mortar into position to lob a few at his unit.

Could it be that he's not a minority?
Could it be that he's not female?
Could it be that he's not gay?

I doubt Pvt. Miller is as attractive as Jessica Lynch. Welcome to the new military PR, Hollywood style!

But the 20-year-old private told ABC's Diane Sawyer there was no reason for her rescue to be filmed, other than to promote her movie and book.

All sorts of combat operations get filmed. They knew that if they were successful with the rescue that this was going to be a big deal. Of course they are going to film it. These decisions get made above the private's pay grade, for good reason.
Hang on for a second while I look for the appropriate adage.
:uhoh: Oh, here it is:
