Filson double belt, if I'm carrying on the belt or IWB. If I'm limited to pocket carry of my Kahr .380, it doesn't matter.

Rob and Jan Leahy at "Simply Rugged" made the great belt I wear every day. They also make fine affordable holsters and other accessories.

Filson is more than I"m looking to spend.
Anyone run the Wilderness Tactical or 5.11 belts?

For a casual belt I like the Wilderness Products "Instructor." For a leather gun belt that looks like a fine dress belt, Beltman. The "Instructor" has the advantage of infinite adjustability, while any leather belt is limited by the positioning of the holes.

I have a Beltman and it can only be described as money well spent. I know I am never going to have to buy another one.
Buy good once and never buy again.

Don Hume makes a nice leather belt for the money. Don Hume trouser belts (http://www.donhume.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=8&zenid=r7r3g1hpb8o0bboibk71880uv5) I think these are likely about as inexpensive as you can find and still be stiff enough to support the weight of the gun and ammo carrier, something that ordinary belts are sorely lacking in.

i usually wear a Wilderness Instructor belt, but went to their Frequent Flyer belt (nylon ring buckle) when i was traveling to a lot classes...easier through airports and i just had to slip on the holster and mag pouches.
i've only seen them...and it was a while ago...Uncle Mikes used to make a nice leather look "dress belt" with a nylon insert, that guys raved about

I have a Wilderness ring belt - it's good, but not the most convenient with rings + velcro, and not as stiff as I would like.
I have a 5.11 holster belt that I got for free. I'm glad I didn't pay $30+ for it. It's O-K but not great, and just looks and feels like it will wear out quickly.
I have a Beltman 1.5" belt. It is terrific! The quality is unbeatable, the stiffness is amazing, they are really a great deal even at the asking price. If your belt size is stable you would be better off buying quality once than buying cheap many times. Ask someone who has done both. 10 years from now the 5.11 will be long gone, the Wildnerness will be fairly worn, and the Beltman will be just about perfectly broken in.

Wilderness tactical is good, and I have a Ted Blocker belt that I wear everyday. Simply rugged is good people, they make great products.

+1 on The Beltman (http://www.thebeltman.net/)
My only regret is not getting it a tad longer for use with my IWB Supertuck. Still works very well. Buying good quality once beats buying low quality over and over.
YMMV.

I use a Wilderness belt. I used to use a Crossbreed but it sqeaked like a mofo.
I like the 'infinite' adjustment you get with many synthetic material belts.

Filson is more than I"m looking to spend.
Tandy (www.tandyleatherfactory.com) has a sale going to the end of the month. You can get a dozen 1 1/2" belt blanks for about $60.00.
These belts are nice and stiff, and with 12 of them, you can change to a new belt when the old one gets worn. They come with the slot cut for the tongue of the buckle and the snaps installed. All you do is add a buckle, cut to length and punch the holes.

I discovered police belt liners worn under the "service belt". They are heavy duty belts that you secure using velcro. They are designed to be worn under the outer service belt.
When wearing a shirt untuck, I use this belt as my "only" belt. It's great because the velcro system allows me to adjust it to the proper tightness needed. I wouldn't wear this with shirts tucked because the lack of a "belt buckle" would give it away as a "gun belt". Aside from lacking a "belt buckle"...this belt looks like any other belt. The material that the belt is made of is very durable and does not "twist" when holding heavy guns.

I had one of those 5.11 trainer belts and it wore out. It didn't take that long. I'd say a year or less. Threading the belt through holster slots numerous times has caused the end of the belt to fray. It also wasn't as stiff as I'd like it. One of those wilderness belts with the polymer insert might do the trick though.
If you like the leather ones and don't want to spend a bunch, go for something like a Don Hume. There are also some "kitchen table" variety holster makers that make nice belts for not much more than $50. $50-60 really isn't a lot to spend on a belt. A good one will last much longer than 2 of those cheapo $25 cardboard insert crappy belts.
Vern has a good idea with the Tandy blanks....but....they won't be nearly as stiff as a double thick belt. Don't get me wrong, they are fairly stiff. Just not stiff enough for me. Hand stitching 2 of those blanks together would take a looooong time and be tedious as heck.

I wear a 5.11 Trainer belt and an Uncle Mike's soft nylon holster. I wear the belt around the outside of the holster so the holster is between the belt and the waistband of my jeans. I carry a Kahr PM40, so the whole set-up is pulled in very tight to my waist and well concealed with just a heavy shirt hanging out.
The whole cost of this soft rig was under $30. If I get a couple of years out of it, it is money well spent, because I may switch carry weapons at some point.

Beltman.
Worth every penny, if I order another, I'm trying the horsehide out.
CrossBreed makes a belt almost as great as the Beltman product for a few bucks less, mine is a bit thicker and did squeak the first few times I wore it, but it is a very good belt (just not quite as great as the Beltman)
I can't speak for any other belt-makers, but I can tell you that gunbelt and cheap don't go together, and it takes a serious belt to hold a pistol exactly where you want it without shifting, twisting, or otherwise annoying you.
I do have one superb Amish-made (at least it is Amish stamped) very thick single-layer leather belt that almost worked as a gunbelt, I wear it when I'm at work or not packing for some other reason - I see them in work-wear shops and at gunshows, one of those might tide you over until funds for a real gunbelt arrive, but you'd be spending $30-40 on a temporary measure delaying the purchase of an ~$80 belt.

I ended up ordering a Wilderness Instructer (5 stitch) & a 1 1/2" Don Hume leather belt. Hopefully, they both work out for me.

Went down to the Saddlery and bought 4 feet of cinch leather 1 1/2" wide. Trimmed it to fit and punched some holes in it. Works great

That's what I do -- or get 1 1/2" belt blanks from Tandy (www.tandyleatherfactory.com) when they're on sale. They recently had a sale on 72" latigo straps, 3" wide -- those make great gunbelts for woods or horseback carry.

Wilderness Tactical Instructor belt (with the insert) for me. 1-3/4"
I wear one every day, carrying or not. (Hey, I work in MD...:()
Very comfortable. Very stiff in the direction it should be. Mine supports a 5" 1911 or a 4" 629 all day without discomfort.

Count me in as yet another fan of the Wilderness 5 Stitch Instructor's Belt. Had to make a quick modification to my GLOCK combat holster to fit the belt but now it's great with my G23.

Out of the belts I have on order, 5.11 (Free w/pants for $20!), Wilderness Instructor & Don Hume leather, the Wilderness arrived 1st today & wow this thing is sturdy. I already feel the difference. This one does not have the polymer insert, but the 2nd Wilderness I have coming in does. I imagine that one will be super sturdy.
