Hello,

New to the forums, so I apologize if this question has been addressed before. I'm trying to help fix my parents' Ruger 10/22 rifle, the charging handle is stuck in the rear position, and no matter how hard I try, I can't get it to move forward. I'm not very familiar with this weapon (and we didn't grow up with guns), so I didn't try disassembling it. I've tried loading a magazine and firing the weapon, no luck. Any help would be appreciated, thank you in advance.

The bolt lock is in front of the trigger guard. Pull bolt fully to the rear and then press in on the upper section of the lock and release the bolt.
Contact Sturm and Ruger or look online for an instruction manual. NEVER try using a firearm that you may think is defective, have it checked by somebody who is competent with that firearm.

Get an auto release bolt hold open. I bought one and have altered at least 7. It is very simple to do, once you do it the first time.
