Ok, I just have to show off my first AR...

After milling over my possessions a few months back, I realized that my material goods were lacking in a major way. They didn't include an AR15 variant of any sort. Well, at the time the prices on AR's were just not where I wanted them, so I waited for the time to pounce.

That time has now come, so I did some looking around. I considered getting a CMMG of some sort, but after some research I decided that a S&W M&P15X was what I wanted. I found one online new for $899 and jumped on it.....

...But, as you folks most likely know, everything comes with a catch. My terrible little devil that takes residence on my shoulder talked me into looking at accessories. After some browsing, that evil little fella made me buy a bunch of tacticool doo-dads. I tried to resist but he just kept saying "why not go all out on your first..." "you know you want those fun doo-dads" and I caved in.

EDIT: I thought it might be a good idea to do a quick edit to emphasize my sarcasm in the above paragraph. I enjoy doo-dads, gizmos and gadgits of all sorts. I put all the stuff I wanted on there to have a nice setup for a great around the house and fun at the range rifle. It's going to be great for the wife too. She's great with a long gun, but not quite up to par with the handguns yet. Though she's never shot the "intimidating military black rifle" (as she referred to it), I'm sure she will be obsessed with it once she shoots it (as with most of my guns). I want her to have something she can learn quick, and have around when I'm not home.

So here is the product.

S&W M&P15X
W/
* Eotech 510
* Tangodown Battle Grip
* Solarforce L2 w/ pressure switch and mount (whole light setup from THR member Jimdo for a great price. Check out his lights if you haven't yet. Great guy and great lights.)
* And some Magpul Rail Covers

Sorry, just had to show it off. The wife loves guns, but she doesn't get the awesomeness of a man's first AR.

Very nice setup you have there! Congrats and get out and shoot it!

Doesn't look bad to me and I'm not a big fan of tacticool accessories.

It doesn't look bad to me. How much have ya got in it with all the accessories? I think I read somewhere that with an AR-15 your accessories should cost about 3 to 5 times the cost of the rifle.

You didn't get the gosh awful looking camo Remington is putting on some of them now so its ok, you stuck with solid black that makes it even better.

Around the $1500-$1600 mark, including some Pmags and a good bit of ammo as well.

Very nice! Rack ready too.

So, now that you have the "sickness" (BRD- Black Rifle Disease), when will you build the light weight carbine for your wife? Will you go with the 20" barrel or the 24" on rifle #3 (and alternately #4)? Then, will your back up (#5) rifle be built like #1 or #2 rifle? Then, how will you configure your low end "truck rifle" #6?

You think I am joking? I speak from experience. 4 current rifles in the safe plus 3 additional lowers.

Bottom line, SWEET Rifle!

True, but nor is she loaded. And spending some time with her, I can tell she's not like those guns you here about on the news that go off on their own and kill people out of their sick inanimate bloodlust.
