Does anyone know of any heavy barrel bolt action rifles chambered for .30-06? The only one I can find is the Tikka T3 varmint. Are there any others that have a street price under $800-900?

One of the easier routes might be to rebarrel a cheap used savage with a shilen or other similar custom bbl. You could do this and come in way under $600 if you played your cards right. Plus this way you get a bbl far superior to anything found on a factory rifle

Find the most ugly used 700 and send it to Hart for a rebarrel job.

Hadn't thought of rebarrelling :banghead: Anyone know what a rebarreling an older 700 would cost?

Because of the threaded barrel?

I use Hart because they are 10min down the road. Very good people.

Good luck.

most accurate would be to rebarrel a 700. cheapest would be to rebarrel one of the others like savage or marlin.

No it because of the barrel nut and user adjustable headspace. Which allows you to order fully chambered ready to screw on barrels for the dame price as a blank.

Which you can install at home with ease. No gunsmith needed.
