Went to a gun show and came a cross a Philly derringer. The guy wanted $50,
it was in bad shape. The lock worked, front sight missing and all rusted, I offered him $20, he said no. We talked and then I walked. Then he yelled O.K.
It is a Dikar and 45 I have its big brother in 45 made by Dikar. And I wanted to add to my collection. Took it all apart and I'm soaking it in penetrating oil.
I have seen a few on this forum. But, my lock is in good shape. The front part of the lock is brass,about one third of the lock. I have never seen one like that before. I'm sure somebody will help me out with this. Oh by the way the nipple came out easy.

Just the lock alone must be worth $20.
Well at least the rusty barrel won't hurt it's accuracy much... and it will be more fun than shooting fish in a barrel! :D

$209, Wow......Should email him and sell mine for $100. Then he makes a $109 profit. Yea....right. I stripped mine down. The trigger and lock looked real good. Just cleaned them up and put oil on them. The screws were hard to get out. They were rusted, like the barrel. I soaked it over night in penetrating oil, It was all gooey and had to use solvent to get it off. Put a bore light down the barrel. BP was caked ever where. Muzzle blast and a screw driver got that out. Used wire on the nipple hole. More muzzle blast and a pipe cleaner took care of that. A 223 brass brush cleaned the rust out of nipple hole threads. Then steel wool wrapped around a 45 brush. And put the cleaning rod in a drill. Cleaned up the barrel about 80%. Lightly used steel wool on the outside of the barrel. A new nipple and it does not look to bad. The wood had a small crack. Put Elmer's Glue on it and forced the glue in the crack. It is in the vise setting up. Still have to figure out something. For the the hole for front sight. Anybody got any ideas.
Then I'll put on Gun Broker for $309.

I had a Pietta Remington pocket that the front site fell off. had a jeweler silver solder a Sterling clasp knob from an old silver necklace. Looks great and only cost &10.00

arcticap, Thanks for the web sites. The hole is small. robhof, your idea is a good one too. Don't know what to do yet. I might even make one. I let you all know. Meanwhile, I'll try to teach myself how to post pictures.

Chuck up an old brass screw in your drill press, then file it down to make your bead. Then press it in with a little epoxy.:cool:

That is what I was thinking. But I was going to use a broken brass cleaning rod. And do it the way you are talking about.
