Fox Boxlock Question

Picked up a Fox BST, old enough to have no serial number.

Right firing pin sticks in its hole, but can be pushed back (by hand, not striking) with a pin punch. I'm assuming the return spring is broken, and the pin may be peened from dry-firing.

I can see the retaining screw when I remove the stock. Access looks a bit difficult, but maybe not impossible. Is it feasible to take the screw out and replace the spring? Or does the whole thing (hammers and mainsprings) need to be disassembled?

How critical is the weight of the spring? My local hardware store has a good selection of springs, is it likely I can get one of the same diameter and shorten it so it'll work properly?

I assume the gun is a Fox Model B (or a variant). It has been a long time since I worked on one, but I think you can remove those firing pins without taking everything else out. You will need a magnetic screwdriver to keep the screws from being lost and tweezers to get things back in.

I don't think the springs are anything special, but Gun Parts has them for around a buck so I would not try to improvise. You will need to know your exact model and the type of firing pin as there were two different kinds. They have a schematic in the catalog and I think it is online now.

Check www.gunpartscorp.com for a look.
