Not to nag, but eye protection would be a good idea ;)

:D
Does that look like a Glock to you, natedog? That's a Kimber, no Kabooms, therefore no eye protection needed. :neener:
Seriously, my 7 year old isn't quite old enough to hangle a .45 yet. That is just a staged shot. I appreciate your concern, really. I really am safety conscience. Here's a shot of him taken recently. He was helping me with some home repairs.

That your Kevlar there? You on active duty?

Not any more. I've got 11 years in, 6 active and 5 in the guard. Now I'm just IRR. My last unit in the Texas guard was with an Airborne task force that went to Australia for 3 weeks to act as the OPFOR to an Australian Brigade. That's why if you look REAL close you'll see that the Kevlar is configured for Airborne ops. I'm about to be passed over for promotion to Major due to the fact that I haven't gone to CAS3 (The Combined and Services Staff School). I don't want to be a staff weenie, therefore I'll soon officially be ONLY a civilian, instead of a civilian soldier. :(

Good for you! The odds on your children ever ending up commiting crimes with firearms just went way down.

he certainly looks ready for an accidental caulk gun discharge,,,
:D
great man,,,mine were about the same age when i started them
if youre into long guns, i might suggest 2 for you,,,
ruger 10/22 in youth size and,,,
remington 870 express in 20 ga and also in youth cut
they'll get a kick out of having guns "just their size" and they'll enjoy it more than trying to make an adult size gun work for them,,,been there,,,
happy shooting!!

Is that the 9mm Caulking gun or is it the .45 version? I wonder what the cycle rate is on the Bad Mammer-Jammer.
Finger on trigger, finger on trigger!:D

We've already got a 10/22. In fact, we just mounted our scope today. We are very much looking forward to zeroing it in soon. Which leads me to another question...
How do I go about zeroing it in? It is a Bushnell 3-9X40. It is mounted. Can I just assume it will hit the target the first shot and then adjust from there?

I am too cheap to buy a bore sighter. When I mount a scope, I fire three at 20 feet!!! yes feet. No matter how far off center it is, it is still on paper. also, at this range, if the holes are not touching, you may have a loose mount or mount screws or maybe even a bad scope. within three groups at this range you should be on center, (a little low is ok, because you are still rising to meet the line of sight from the scope.)
good luck with it, I think ruger makes a fine .22

What the heck is the first gun???
And how long is that barrel?
280PLUS
November 10, 2003, 08:19 AM
ruger 10/22 is a .22 cal semi auto rifle,,,
youth cut means it's cut shorter for a kid,
i don't recall the barrel length, i talked my now 16 yo into trading it in on a bushmaster,,,plus a couple of dollars, of course,,,:D
i know the 870 had an 18" barrel, my now 20 yo scoffed it a few weeks back, which means,,,(sniff sniff) theres more room in the safe...
he has discovered that, to his dismay, his little shotgun is too small for him now,,,so he went out and bought a mossy to make himself feel better,,,
and, yup, just start the target close up and adjust accordingly while moving it back,,,
i don't want to be another nag BUT  you might better serve them by teaching them to shoot open sights first?

That gun in the first picture is a Colt .22LR.
It is from their Lawman's Series, specifically the Wyatt Earp. It has a 12 inch barrel. Cool, huh?
What's even cooler is that I got the gun in an even swap for an old Dell P3 600mHz that I had laying around the house.
Message to all. I have more computers laying around the house if somebody has a trade in mind. :D

Ukraine, sorry I missed your question.
They continue to do very well! They are both red belts in martial arts and I'm teaching them on the firing arts as well!!!

Great looking boys! It looks as if Dad is bringing them up right. Education is the key. I know you are proud!

Is the hook on the end of the caulk gun kind of like the one on the SPAS-12, to make it possible to be fired one-handed?
Looks like they enjoyed themselves. Good job teaching 'em right.
