hey guys,

i'm stripping the paint off my henry 22's receiver and giving it a little polish. i need durable clear coat that will resist hoppe's #9.

a guy on another board recommended something called lustrekote flat, an r/c aircraft paint that will withstand model fuel.

i don't have a decent hobby shop nearby but i do have a walmart.

do they have anything that would work?

If you just gotta have clear coat, go to auto paint supply and get clear coat plus the hardener. Don't mix too much up as it won't hold over.

Brownell's Alumahyde II comes in clear. I use the colors and when I follow the instructions exactly I get great results.

DuraCoat also has a clear finish. I've used it over some two-tone jobs to even out the finishes. You can make it glossy, or matte depending on how far you spray it from the gun.

Bigbob- do you "need" to oven sure the alumahyde?
