i have just got a ar30 338 lapua. im looking for someone to tell me if there is any problems to fix or any updates that would be nice. i would like to get a badger barrel and a knew bolt knob for this rifle i would also like to polish the bolt if needed and debur the action if needed. if anyone has ever had one and has done a lot of shooting to point out the ups and downs of this fine gun. becuase i would like to customise it.

ok lets make this enteresting. first of all who has and if they do would you bring it to batle or even a compitition. what scope what gear what updates. you know, the works. if you have any pictures please send. i would like to hear about this gun and how it performs.back to the battle this battle is in Irag up in the mountians somewhere where there you know there is one of those talaban caves and you have to studdy them. you must take out all onehundred talaban members whithout giving away your position. if you give away your position they have antitank missilses and mortors to take anything out. you can get a 2000 yard shot and what kind of scope [for under1200] would you use [ over 25x mag.]. any custom work slash equipment and what bullets. and for target shooting what type of scope 25x or greater mag under 1200

SEND ANY PICTURES YOU HAVE

Only one I have ever seen being shot was box stock.
I would not be planning on upgrades until I had shot it a while. The factory barrel will shoot out soon enough for you to think about replacements then.

Maybe you could find a second hand Nightforce scope for $1200. Maybe.

Or is this for a video game?

Scopes. I'd be tempted to try one of the Weaver Tacticals if on a budget.
Leupold Mark 4
Nightforce
IOR
Zeiss
S&B

IMO, if you can spend $1200, then you can save a little more to get something else. But as said above, a used Nightforce or Leupold Mark 4 would be your best bet to meet that price point.

I'd also get started hand loading rather than go for modifications (if you're not already). For that caliber, you need to handload. Half the fun of the whole thing IMO.

42mm seems a little small for that much magnification.

The other thing you might want to consider is how much elevation adjustment you have. I believe you want a 30mm tube scope for this reason.
