if given the choice which would you choose and why?

the M9 or the OKC3S?

ive handled both and like both (and if i could convince the wife to get both for christmas id have both lol) but im stuck haveing to choose

i like the heft of the M9 it seems like just a rugged knife but at the same time i like the overall size of the OKC

i know there are several makers of the M9 whos making (or made) a good one?

is there anything i should watch out for with either?

Well, if you care enough to use a bayonet, I'd say go with the Strider/ZT bayonet (http://www.bluelinegear.com/p-442-striderzt-collaberation-bayonet.aspx). Sharp looking, and superior quality, though they aren't shy about what they think it's worth ($325-ish).
