Looking for a Mfg date

While watching R.Lee Ermey on TV showing the history of shotguns, I thought of my Ithaca Model 37, patent no.1849982. It has number 271295 stamped on the barrel. My dad gave it to me when I passed the 7th grade. That was in 1957. Does anyone know how to trace the manufacture date of this great little shotgun? Thank you.

It was made in 1949. That year standard field guns went from 202950 to 302500. You can get info here.
