Hello, my local shooting range uses metal bolling pins as targets. my 380 will just barly move them. kinda sucks.
would a 147 grain 9mm move them more?
my gun shoots great and is pretty acurate, just not much going on when I hit them.
btw, I will be buying a hi-point 9mm if i get one( hey, I like them! Had no trouble with my 380 in the 450 rounds I have shot)
I just want more bang for my buck!
thanks,
mike

I bet it will fall right over if you throw a HiPoint at it....
(sorry, I couldn't resist)

Sounds dangerous to me!

How much do they weigh? Are they solid? I'd throw baseballs at them before I shot at them from fear of riccochets. I'd shy away from the metal ones.
I used to buy wooden ones wrapped in plastic coating. We were knocking them over w/ 22's & we could fit alot of 22's in them before they exploded from all the lead they absorbed! ;)

Something big, slow, and soft would be safest and most effective. Like a .45 or .38 shooting lead but a 9mm would be better than what you are using now.
I'd save my money up for an EAA or Taurus instead of getting a Hi-Point. For a little more money you'll get a lot more gun. EAA and Taurus are my votes for best bang for the buck in firearms on a tight budget. If you can afford a CZ you're getting a world class firearm at a good price.
YMMV and other applicable disclaimers.

Yeah, I'd have to agree -- save a few more bucks and get something a little better. If you like the Hi Point, that's great. That's what matters. But you may just find something that you like a little bit more. Have you looked at a Beretta/Taurus, CZ-75/Witness, Browning HP, or Walther P99? Yeah, they're quite a bit more expensive than a Hi Point in 9mm (which goes for $99 at my local store), but I think you'll find that they're usually worth it -- if for nothing other than a thickness and weight decrease.
Cheers,
Wes
P.S. I could plug the BHP all day, but you could just run a search to see me do that.

One CZ is way better than two Hi-Points.

I would also recommend against the High Point, and would also suggest a Taurus 9mm. Around here street price for a PT-92 is $350 or less, with a lifetime warranty. Also, CZ-75 would a great choice for around the same price.
If you're really on a budget, check out the 9mm Star BM's available from AIM Surpus, SOG, or J & G Sales. I got one for $129 from AIM (plus a $15 transfer fee). The finish on mine is well worn, but it's a great shooter, and built very well. They no longer make the guns, but parts are still available from e-gunparts.com

I forget his handle, but a fellow on this forum buried his 9mm Hi-Point somewhere in the AZ desert....maybe he could give longitude/latitude:uhoh:
P.S. I mean no disrespect to Hi-Point....it ain't no STI Trojan or Kimber CDP, but I've fired a friend's Hi-Point .380 and, for someone on a budget, it could save your life....if not knocking over bowling pins.
