I went in to my local sporting goods store and found a display case full of benchmade and Hk, push button automatic knives??

I didn't think they could legally ship them over state lines?? Did I miss something? I had the guy pull them out for me to look at. I pushed the button, and the blade swung out. hmmmf? I guess I should buy now that an opportunity has presented itself.

I did a quick search on the interweb thing-a-m-jiggy and found the answer you seek, yes I have... ok, I dont make a good Yoda. The answer is, it depends. In Oregon it is legal so long as it's not concealed (whatever that means) but raises more questions, since it talks about knives that can open with centrifugal force... Benchmade's Griptillian, I know I have two and can flip one open very quick. But the answer is, it varies with state, the Feds do ban the interstate transportation of auto knives except for sales to leo's, so I don't know how you balance states allowing them and the fed saying you can't ship them across state lines... Federal Law and State law at odds... go figure!:banghead:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Switchblade If you scroll down you will see a chart showing which state's allow Automatic Knives.

So I believe I have half way answered your question and raised even more... But in the end, this post is worth what you paid for it :p

Good Luck

Switchblades (http://thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=485359) is stickied at the top of the forum.

Your state may restrict or prohibit carry or possession of switchblades, as may your locale.
Federal law only regulates interstate commerce and interstate shipping.

If they're legal in your state, I wouldn't limit yourself to just those brands.

Check out www.bladehq.com for a large selection and good prices.

Be ready for sticker shock on some of the high end ones. You'll pay an amount up to or more than a nice pistol.

Oh boy.

You can't ship autos in the "US Mail"......UPS or other commercial shipping is fine.

Some States only ban carry of autos, like California. You can collect them here and
even have one in the trunk of your car. But don't carry it, that's a Misdemeanor.

Other States like New Jersey, you can't have them at ALL period.

Speedo66,

Thanks for the link! That's the largest selection of autos I've ever seen without being bulked up with imported junk. Almost brings a tear of happiness to my eye.

My pleasure!

They also have a nice shipping policy. One knife or a hundred knives, all ship for one decent price.

That bladehq.com probably wasn't the best thing for me to peruse this close to the holidays. Wow.
