My dad has a .32 auto, thats a scaled down 1911, made by them. Its a sweet gun.
And i have no idea if they are around.

My old boss had a Llama 1911 .45
Real interesting pistol and the first 1911 I ever played around with and brought home and cleaned(just so I could learn how to break it down)

In fact you can learn just how little Llama makes any more here. (http://www.bersa-llama.com/)

There is a new Llama page under development at
http://thearmedcitizen.com/gunpages/llamasub.htm
General experience suggests that if you buy this brand, aim toward
new-in-a-box to ensure you are not buying a problem gun.
And, yes, they are still available new. The Llama website mentioned early in this thread has a list of dealers, but many gun shops can order this brand.
Be advised that the MSRPs shown on the website are a tad on the high side. For example, a Mini-Max Subcompact in matte black shown there at $333.95 should have a street price under $250.

I noticed pricing on the MAX-I was conspicously absent. Anyone know what one should go for? If someone were wanting an inexpensive Government Model .45 to tinker with would this be a good route?

I picked up a used Llama MicroMax in .380 a year ago or so. Neat little gun. After I fouled up the firing pin safety, I was able to get it replaced. Got a couple mags from Promag and it runs great. The trigger isn't that good, but it goes bang every time. Hurts your hand after a few magazines. I may need to get a new recoil spring, and maybe get the sear and hammer out and see if I can polish them up.
However, the slide stop notch shows wear. Llama obviously still uses soft steel. Since it's not a real heavy use shooter, I don't mind. If it's reliable, and concealable, I like it.
Although I will soon be getting a couple Star BMs to use for carry...
The Llama MicroMax is a neat little pistol... just a scaled down 1911 (blowback, tho, so no locking lugs)

I bought a Llama 1911.
Performed fine. Fit and finish was the worst I've ever seen.
Don't have it anymore. Don't want it back.

That's EXACTLY what I'm looking for. Don't want to butcher a GOOD gun with my amature gunsmithing but I still want something that will reliablely go BANG and put rounds roughly where I'm pointing. Any idea what new and used prices are like?

Although I have heard some reports of people having good experiences with them.....I will never own a Llama pistol again!
I bought a Mini-Max model in .45 ACP, and couldn't wait to get it home. First, I loaded the mag with FMJ's and tried to chamber a round. It wouldn't load them. Then, I tried JHP's. No go on those either. I promptly took the gun to a local gunsmith, where it stayed for two weeks, and a hundred dollars worth of work.
When I got it back I took it to the range. It would chamber the first round of FMJ, and fail to feed every round thereafter.
The fit and finish was very bad, and it truly showed itself as a chep gun in every way possible. I sold the thing for $50 about an hour after leaving the range, and have never regretted selling it.
If it were me...I'd skip the ameteur gunsmithing, and save my money for a quality 1911, or if you must have a cheap gun.....I'd buy a Hi-Point, or a Lorcin before I ever buy another Llama!:cuss:
