I'm not sure Elmer's .44 Smith would sell for that much. Not even the one with which he made the 500 yard shot.:what:

Dirty Harry's .44, though, I bet would bring that much.:D

The Smith & Wesson letter says: shipped to the Springfield Firearms Co. Cornwall, England 5-24-65...

That was then. This is... Aw, never mind!

Well at least it was lucky enough to escape and find it's way back across the pond to home.

maybe its the same gun... Wimers has a 5" 29 shipped to England on 5-24-65 for $4,995....

he always finds neat, interesting guns, but he sure is proud of them...

S&W would realize there is a good market for a 5" 29 and do a small run. I know I've wanted one since Unintended Consequences.

Just received my Christmas present from my son-in-law.
629-5 that has been through the Performance Center
and converted to 5 inch 45 Colt. Gold bead front
sight, old style trigger stop, detent ball on front of
crane, smooth trigger, .500 target hammer and muzzle
recessed like target rifle. Stamped Performance Center
on left of barrel, 45 Colt Ctg. on right of barrel.

Waiting for break in the weather to try it out.
