I have a chance to buy a Whitney .31cal, that has been refinished at some point for $750.00. The serial # is L-127, is that a creditable number and is the price OK? Thanks.

I long to have a whitney... I did see one at a gun show for exactly that price, but I didn't fondle it enough to know what shape it's in. I'm not comfortable cycling the action on an antique that's not mine, if it has the mainspring, it could break on that moment, and then what? etc...

That is about top dollar for a non-original finish revolver as far as collector value. I don't think they are going to get cheaper, ever. How bad do you want it. You never pay too much, you just buy it too soon. If you want it, buy it. Don't be in your death bed thinking I should have bought that Whitney.
