Dude you either got the deal of the year or got a counterfit. If its real Leupold then you be the judge if it does what you need. New cost is $700-$900.

do you know anyway as to tell if their counterfiet. i searched the website, and it seems to match it. it was left behind by a soldier who we were replacing. he was heading home and didnt own a rifle. you could say its his loss, but after a year in country, he's the one going home.

If your overseas you probably got the real deal, there should be a serial number on the bottom of the scope. I think Leupold has a way of proving that number with them, the Chinese were doing some copies of Leupold scopes so they are on top of it.
Check their web site, the M4 might not even be one of the scopes in question.
Stay safe.

well i found out why i got it so cheap. the last guy thought he broke it. but all that went wrong was the battery pack. it took me two gerber multi-tools to twist it open, and out pops corrosion. i got the batter back sitting in soda to eat the corrosion off. once im done, im gonna wash it and dry it thoroughly, and then see if she sparks to life.

With a deal like that you might want to send the MK4 home and use the optic that is issued, no sense beating up your own equipment.
Are you in Iraq or Afganistan?

i just fixed it, and the lit amber reticle is a beauty. the low setting is really impressive at night time too. and then twisting it into a 3x zoom. its awesome. its 1x is really impressive cause you could almost use it for cqb. its got a small rail on top for a little eotech red dot. that really impressed the heck out of me. im in iraq btw. im not really gonna beat it up, but the only thing i got to slap it on back home is a ruger 10/22. im not a huge fan of the m4 or .223. nothing against anyone who is, i just dont prefer it.

oh, by the way. i was issued the m68 optic, and i really hate that thing. out of the three ive used, two didnt want to hold a zero, and the only army issued sight ive liked is the acog. i didnt care much for the 145 scope for the m249 either.

You really got a deal I'd say. If you want to get rid of it in a yr. and can find the 1-89 Cav 10th Mtn. sell it to my son, we got some guns to mount it on.
Again stay safe, especially with the election comming up over there.

I personally like the CQT but I know a lot of people that don't for some reason. Durability wise I have never had any problems. I've used and abused the rifle it's on, dropped it on rocks, all that typical stuff you run into hog hunting.

The only downside to that optic is it sits up high. It can be hard to get a cheek weld with some types of stock.

That's a heck of a deal you got there, glad you got it fixed.

Hey soldier!! Wheres your 550 cord securing that scope to the rifle!!!!!!

LOL

I really like the Leupold scope you got there. One of my coworkers has one on his patrol rifle and its a really nice scope. He hasnt had any problems in the past couple years with it. I got an Acog for my rifle as I fell in love with mine during my 05 tour.
