Happy b-day Marines, though I do have to say that I still don't get it. Just a bunch of crazy sailors who think they are in the Army:neener:
(Ducks for cover, won't come out for a while)
Seriously, I have friends who are former Marines (I learned to never call a "former" Marine an "ex" Marine just over a decade ago when talking to a friend who had been in Vietnam and left the Marine Corps as a First Sergeant I believe). I actually do have the utmost respect for the Corps and those (crazy) enough to serve in the Corps.

This looks like the appropriate place for my first post to THR.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARINES!!
My friend, a Marine Aviator circa 1968, and I are going for a long lunch tomorrow to celebrate today's occasion, tomorrow's, Veterans Day, and maybe purchase a new handgun or two. That sounds appropriate as well, doesn't it?
And to all serving in harms way today and those headed out tomorrow, regardless of Branch, do your job as you've trained to do it; do not stop learning how to do it; and accept our prayers as your companion.

Habu,
I don't believe that Tun Tavern still stands. There is a place called Tun Tavern in Atlantic City that has the Marine Corps birthday party every year. Check out tuntavern.com.

Last time I checked, the Army was younger than the Marine Corps.

wingnut,
The Marine Corps birthday is 10 NOV 1775.
The Army birthday is 14 JUN 1775.
That makes the Army older by almost 5 months.
Frank
