After seeing the number of reloaders that can't seem to find primers at any price, I went lookin'.

www.GunsAmerica.com has many listings, although they seem to be a bit overpriced.

If you're desperate and have stuff jingling in your pockets (pants not primer)you might want to have a look-see.

I have no connection to anyone selling these or any other primers, so please don't kill the messenger if you find the prices offensive.:cuss:

Good luck.

I'm not going to wade through a strange website as complex as that one just to look at outrageous primer prices. Put up a link to the primer page please.

Last week at the local gunshow, there were plenty of primers available, albeit high prices. The lowest I saw was $49.00/1K the worst was $60.00! My local gunshop has as many as I want of the big three, for $39.95, which I consider a fair price.

I bought small rifle & pistol at Gander Mountain a week ago, my local store had neither. Friday my local store had both large pistol & rifle, first they had in some time. There is light at the end of the tunnel!

Bruno's is/was selling primers for $49.95 per K (non-match). Won't be sending anymore of my cash that way.

Wolf primers are $25.50 per K. I haven't tried all their offerings, but SRs gave almost identical results as 205 match and BR4s. Single digit SDs from all three.

Federals are the tough one, especially the GM line. There is a post on ARFCOM in MN Hometown forum of Scheels in Grand Forks with a slew of Federal Primers.......it is 4 weeks old the poster says....

CCI primers are the cheapest at wholesale prices.

EddieNFL, what are .223 primers? Aren't they the same as SR and SRM primers?

Widener's had Wolf's in stock earlier this week. They seem to have them fairly consistently these days.

What Slamfire said (fitting name for the response). I've not tried them, but my understanding is Wolf uses a harder cup for their mag primers, as well.

I went to the Saxet gun show in Pharr, TX yesterday. Lots of primers, powder and other bits available. Prices are still higher than last year but at least stocks are once again available.

I'm with taliv still working on what I bought for Y2K. All my friends kidded me about stocking up on stuff back then. $18.95 per 1000 back then. I do notice powder and primers are back on store shelves. even saw 4 bricks of 22lr. production apears to be catching up with demand.

Over the last 6 months, I've bought small & large pistol in central and south Florida for 40.00 per K. Availability sporadic, but coming back to normal.
Even when they were scarce, I could find them at that price, but they would not ship.

We were ready this time. Many more will be next time. :)

Unforchantly I've never found primers sub $22 since I started reloading a couple years ago. back last November before the election I got 10K Win Large Pistol for $27/K. Before that I was buying them at $25/K. So my $30/k isn't that bad. Not great though. I do go through some primers, my 1911's are going to feed themselves :D

I am brand new to reloading, so when did the primers jump to the price of $30/K? I just picked mine up and the guy said the prices had really gone up. Has powders also jumped in price? Had they only gone up because of the Obamy, or did this start before then?

It began, IIRC, about last February or March. I remember the big ammo shortage, but it hadn't hit components yet. Then once people couldn't find ammo the shortages spread to components.

85% obama
5% ammo usage
5% copper prices there for a short time
5% "Capitalism at work. (We keep buying them, so they keep going up ;))
