Good range experience this weekend.

This weekend I went shooting and had a first time experience I wanted to share.

I went to Hoffman's gun shop with a buddy to put some rounds down range with my Springer 1911. After a few rounds the gun started to not extract the spent brass. It happened about 5 or 6 times within 5 magazines. As I recall it happened once or twice the last time i went shooting as well.

So while my buddy was loading up a couple of magazines I went and asked the range officer what he thought about it; I'm no gunsmith and I'm fairly new to the world of guns so I wasn't 100% sure and didn't want to chance anything. The guy says he's not entirely sure either but called in one of the other guys who's the shop's guru.

I show him the gun, he originally thought maybe there was some buildup behind the extractor, but commented on how clean the gun was. He said "give me 5 minutes" and takes it out of the range.

5 minutes later he walks back in, said he put a little more pressure into the extractor and polished the feed ramp. He also gave me 10 rounds on the house to test it out again. The thing works better than ever now. I ask him what i owe him, and he refused anything. All he wanted was a handshake.

I just thought this was an amazing experience at the range for me. Anyone ever have something similar happen?

Pretty sweet deal man. Last time I went to french creek outfitters with my friend. My friend asked if there was a special tonight. the guy replys "Yea date night" and looks at the 2 of us and laughs. When we were leaving the guy recognized my friends last name. Apparently he knew his father and grandfather and gave us a ticket to shoot free next time.

So that was kind of cool.

nice :) best I've had so far is 'sharing' firearms. The guy in the lane next to you has a pretty sweet gun, so you talk to him, let him try yours out, and you get to try his out :)

I showed up at a range in AZ that i had never been too, folks there were more than glad to help me zero my rilfle and give me tips. It was a great experience i felt part of a family just for being an american that believed in gun rights

There have been two accidental gun accidents at Hoffmans. One 'instructor' shot himself in the leg and another employee fired a wild shot in the shop with customers present.
