So I just got back from a meat shoot and they were using the cheap 1 1/8 ounce winchester wally world loads. I found that every round i shot the gun would not eject the shell. anyone else have this problem with the SX2 or SX3It says it will cycle heavy 3 1/2 shell to the lightest 2 3/4 shell.

Sorry, but no. My SX2 has never had a problem cycling anything from super light target loads to the heaviest shot. In fact, I use it mostly with light target loads.

How many rounds have you put through it?
Some autos need more of a break in period than others.

I've never shot a SX2, but I've had fte issues with that ammo in a few different guns. Try some different shells and see if it persists.

Ive only put about 30 rounds through it 10 winchester expert 2 3/4 # 2 steel, no problems with those. and the winchester wally world 1 1/8 ounce specials at the meat shoot that failed to eject.

You guys know that the SX2 can come with two pistons, one for light and one heavy loads right?
Did you read the owner's manual:
• 3 1⁄2" —These models have a 3 1⁄2" chamber designed to shoot factory 12 gauge loads including 2 3⁄4", 3" and 3 1⁄2" (1 1⁄8 oz. to 2 1⁄4 oz.) field loads. (They are NOT designed to shoot the lightest factory 7⁄8 oz. and 1 oz. loads.)
• 3" — These models have a 3" chamber designed to shoot factory 12 gauge loads including 2 3⁄4" and 3" (1 oz. to 2 oz.) field loads. (They are NOT designed
to shoot the lightest factory 7⁄8 oz. and 1 oz. target loads or any 3 1⁄2" shells.)
Super X2 Sporting shotguns include two separate gas pistons (Figure 1) specifically configured to handle the full spectrum of factory sporting and magnum loads.
Using the incorrect piston may cause malfunction and/or cause serious, unnecessary wear on the action.
Always use the correct piston for the ammunition being used. Ammunition guidelines are listed below:
PISTON #1 (LIGHT LOADS)
Piston # 1 bears the inscription: SX2 Sporting. 1 1⁄8 oz. loads and less (32 gr). This is your main piston for target shooting.
PISTON #2 (HEAVY LOADS)
Piston # 2 bears the inscription: SX2 Sporting. 1 1⁄4 oz. loads and greater (36 gr). This is your main piston for heavy loads.

my 3.5" SX2 has never failed to cycle any load down to 1oz.
I periodically soak the piston assbly in Shooter's Choice solvent and then spray with Kroil.

cameron, mine is a brand new SX2. It only came with one piston with no engraving that states piston 1 or 2. I called winchester/browning/FN today and the rep told me to stop shooting the cheap ammo to fix the problem.....nice. This is hard to do for meat shoots cause you have to use house ammo, that is usually the cheap stuff. For future meat shoots i will just have to use my American made Winchester 1400. as for skeet and trap shooting with the SX2 the rep suggested sticking with Winchester XX or AA 1 oz. or better. We'll see if those cycle. So far the SX2 will be a dedicated waterfowl gun and not a general purpose gun and that kinda sucks.

Whats problem with shucking shell if the gun does the job at meat shoots? You only shoot target one time. I used to wipe the grease off the tube on Browning A5 to let rings take out most of the recoil out for kids and women to shoot. Worked well and I shucked shells after they shot. Also had 1100 that wouldnt kick cheap shells, but it was a good shooter so it never bothered me. But had to shoot decent shells on clays or skeet. I do understand where you are coming from on that point. Have super X2 sporting clays with both pistons. Have seen pistions on E Bay, that might a thought ,just make sure you get the one for the light loads. I also have noticed that both my gold hunters and the winchester have to have carbhon scrubbed of tube pretty doggone regular. I use fine steel wool then wipe down with oil rag, this seems to help alot if you do it about every 2-250 rounds, normaly a day at the range. Love the sx2, just requires more tlc. GOOD LUCK AND GOD BLESS

The Sporting models were/are the only ones that came with 2 gas valves- I think. I have a standard and a sporting. The standard only came with the one.
I have seen them on sale here and there.
My standard will eject light load shells, it's had a few rounds of skeet through it though. Yours might just need a bit more break in and clean/lube.

It really seems to be difficult for a gun to shoot everything from light 7/8 oz loads to those 3-1/2 inch sky busters equally well without changing pistons or something similar - the differences between those rounds is dramatic. Personally, I have no use for 3" let alone 3-1/2" as I do not shoot waterfowl since the need for steel/nontox. I would, if I still DID shoot waterfowl, have a gun for that purpose and another one for targets.
