Greetings,

In spite of all my French Canadian bones hurting...
In spite of all my French Canadian soul screaming...
In spite of all my French Canadian ancestors turning in their graves...
I could not pass a good deal and bought 2 MAS (39 and 49/56).

I plan to buy a couple boxes of PRVI brass/boxer and after that reload the empty cases.

I have a simple question: What bullets does it use? Will the 160 grains 30 caliber bullets I use for my .308win will work?

Thank you

Yes, the MAS 7.5 should measure .308 in the groove. It is very similar to the 7.5 Swiss case and in performance, but of course is not the same.
You should be able to push a 150gr at around 2700fps and a 165gr around 2500fps.

The new Hornady manual (sorry, it's at home) has 7.5mm MAS data. I know it has data for the 150 grain Hornady soft point. The case capacity is a little less than a .308 winchester, so you might get the best performance with somewhat lighter .308 caliber bullets. I'm sure you can use the 160 grainers, but they might be a little slower than you'd hope. I'll check it this evening after dinner. What powder would you want to use with it?

Greetings,

I have the books. Thank you for the offer, I'll be good. I just needed to confirm I could use a standard 308 diameter bullet (308, 30-06, 7.5swiss...)

Thank you

7.5x54 MAS actually has MORE case capacity than .308win almost identical to 7.62x54r

Since the case capacity is greater with 7.5x54 vs 308 and all 7.5french arms have successfully been converted to 308 winchester I simply used .308 data. With impressive results might I add

Greetings,

I just want to be REALLLLLLLLLLLLLY sure:

NCSmittty said 7.5 French uses normal 30 cal bullets.

None of my books has data, but Ramshot sent me data for TAC.

I read the bore diameter is .295 and the groove diameter runs about .3075 to .3085.

It is my understandign a regular .308 FMJ is .309. There can be a squeeze of .0015! :what:

Am I right assuming it is safe?

Thank you
