Square post front sight??

How hard can it be to find a simple square post front sight insert for a rifle? I've been looking for one for my rifle, to replace a gold bead type front sight that broke. I can find all sorts of bead sights, in all colors shapes and sizes, but not a single square post anywhere. Are square post front sights for a rifle really that obscure?
I've scoured Brownells' website, as well as Midway and Natchez catalogs. Lotsa bead sights and fiber optrics, but no square posts.
Anyone know where I could find what I'm looking for?
Specifically, what I need is a sqaure post front sight, to fit in a ramp cut with a standard 3/8 inch dovetail. Ideally, it should be .5 inch long, .25 inch wide, and about .35 to .4 inch tall.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
John

XS Sight Systems (was Ashley Express) makes slightly ramped post sights with a white stripe. If you wanted black, you could paint out the stripe.
Look at Brownell's 006-113-400

I believe the ar15 front sights are square. They come threaded for the front AR sights of course, but you could cut the threads off, or tap the barrel and have an adjustable front sight...

Also try Brownells #127-000-005
Nice insert.
That is the extent of choices we riflemen have for aftermarket square post or patridge style sights in a standard dovetail, unfortunately...

For whatever reason the old square blade "Patridge" or "military" front sight appears to be a disappearing item.
Most available sights are variations on the gold or white bead.
These are Ok for hunting, but lousy for target work, and some people, like me, just prefer the plain black blade.
Brownell's does carry the following blade type front sights, that fit standard 3/8" dovetails:
Brockman Marlin Ghost ring type front, #127-000-004 and -005
XS Sight Systems Post front, #006-104-250 thru -600
and #006-113-250 thru -600
The Brockman and XS can be modified by blackening the white inserts.
Oversized dovetail "blank" front, #011-001-065 and -100.
This one is a blank that fits most any 3/8" dovetail, and is high enough to be cut to fit for elevation.
This one seems to be the best bet for custom fitting.
