I recently picked up a Colt Series 70 and because of surface rust and the fact that I'm not into blued guns, have decided to take the pistol to M&R Arms to have it "diamondkoted" I thought it would be interesting to see what THR members think would be the best color combination.

Disclaimer - I'm not interested in colors 1-7 so don't even go there! :D

I'm incurable and of no help to you.
I'm a blue and wood fella.
Especially on a series 70's , I have a mind pic of the deep blue back in the old days, nice DD walnut grips...sigh..."take me back to five and dime Jimmy Dean"

I *hate* two-tone guns. Well, most of them. But I really hate two-tone 1911's. It's just not right.

And a classic like the Colt Series 70 should be blued or stainless, period.

No fancy "accenting" or two-toning, or any other mumbo-jumbo.

I was going to snicker at the examples they have on the web site. Especially after seeing that "RACY" Hot Pink Hungarian PA-63, job. :barf:

But I'll withdraw. I DIG that Sig 226 in O.D. Green.

As far as your question, if you don't like blued. Go with their stainless steel color.

Yeah, that PA-63 is "one-of-a-kind". Ahh.... the modern world offers so many choices.

I like that Blue color sample #6, but I can't imagine it looking good on any gun, and I don't think I will sacrifice any of mine to become a guinea pig.

I voted for Gunblue frame and stainless steel slide.

my vote? highly highly highly polished hardchrome. all visible parts (aside from maybe the sights). I don't know why, I just want to do mine that way. everything else i have is pretty drab. we all need some bling-bling everyonce in a while.:p :D

You ever seen a shiny chrome 1911 with pearl grips?

Purdy... :)

That's another great option!

Hmmm... I have a friend who's a member of the Pink Pistols, and he's leaving his handguns in storage with me for a month while he goes overseas. Wonder what his face would look like if I presented him, on his return, with his very own pink SIG P220? Do you think M&R could mix up that color for me?

:what: :p :D :D :D

Preacher,
You might found out how that 10 ga dbl kicks from the muzzle end if you did that...
