Hmmmm....
Found this story interesting.
Have to admit, It's kind of funny. If I was a kid and found this thing when I used to live in chinatown.... Yup, I'd fire fireworks out of this new found toy! Not at anyone of course...

NY1 News: Rocket Launcher (http://www.ny1.com/ny/TopStories/SubTopic/index.html?topicintid=1&subtopicintid=1&contentintid=34625)

One resident genius was quoted as saying:
“It’s scary because I live here and my kids are here, if it’s going to start happening again”

Huh!? This has happened before!? Was it live ordnance?
Eh... guess I'm just taking out of context. Or am I?:D

Why would you throw away a rocket tube, even if it was inoperable? That's a great suvenier!

Better to donate it to a museum. Hey, it's NY, why not the Met? They can put it right next to a Rembrandt or something. Rembrandt & rocket, I like that.

“It’s scary because I live here and my kids are here, if it’s going to start happening again,” said another area resident. “I don’t understand who would do something like that.”

So far no charges have been filed against anyone in connection with the missile launcher.

Right...

Think that they've found out that regular pipe is rigid, round, and can be used to fire a rocket???

Might get real tough on the plumbing supply stores in NYC if this keeps up...

Ban everything!

It's for the children.

Uh, yeah......
If they don't want the empty launcher in NY for safety reasons, I know a nice safe place I can keep it for them:D

If empty launcher tubes are such a big deal in NYC, what do Army-Navy stores sell up there, anyway?

If empty launcher tubes are such a big deal in NYC, what do Army-Navy stores sell up there, anyway? Not ashtrays, that's for sure.

I tune in expecting to see an al-queda RPG in the hands of a grim faced Brooklyn cop...

Instead, I see inferences to an empty LAWS rocket tube.

Heck I HAD one of those as a kid.

What kind of numbskull throws away something as unique as that?

By the way, I think they can be reconfigured to fire with some effort, if I'm not mistaken. I know those old AT4 and LAWs can.

I had one of those as a kid. Even brought it to school for show and tell. My Uncle brought it down from Ft. Drum. Everyone loved it too. Now they call the bomb squad. Times have defenitly changed:banghead:
