I'm thinking about picking one of these up.

Anybody know how they are??

Yeah, I know. Buy the NRM Colt. I already have a Springfield Loaded. I'm just looking for something cheap to take to the range in a Commander length!! :D

foote, there has been a few threads on the firestorm .45

I am also interested in the firestorm .45 compact as well. Maybe if you buy one, we can shoot it at the next gathering. ;)

Mine worked. It was more reliable than my SA V10! The advantage of being able to digest hi-cap mags was a real plus. I am looking for a plater, I want a hardchrome finish on one. The blue was really thin.

Thanks Lenny.
So far, I've yet to hear any horror stories about these pistols. Randall's in Glendale have them for $264, which is hard to pass up!! I want the Commander sized gun, though!!

So far, I've yet to hear any horror stories about these pistols. I have the Firestorm Mini 9mm. My initial experience was heading down the "horror story" road but turned out OK. It's a long story but here is the short version.

Bought the Mini 9 with the nickel finish, field stripped and cleaned it. In the first few hundred rounds had several misfires and the finish started peeling off of the top of the barrel. Contacted SGS, they confirmed a bad run of nickel finish barrels and sent me a new one. Received it in a couple days. Back to the range more misfires. Sent the gun in to repair facility, got it back with no documentation. Return to the range, more misfires and now the finish is peeling off the back of the slide where the hammer strikes. Call the repair facility, get a bunch of BS, conclude they did nothing to the gun. Call SGS, they are very customer service oriented and tell me to ship the gun to another facility and agree to reimburse my shipping charges. Send the gun in to another facility. They return it, with a new slide and associated parts. Off to the range. Bang Bang, no misfires. Have since had 500+ rounds with no misfires and no finish issues.

So, all said and done, it's a great little gun. SGS offers great customer service. I think I just got a lemon. It's a $300 gun, you get what you pay for finish wise, but since repaired has been absolutely reliable and a fun little shooter. BTW, so far it consumes a lot of various ammo with no feeding problems.
