Extremists?

As some of you know, I'm a writer. Most of my stuff is 2nd Amendment friendly if not flat out endorsing of it.

So...here's a quick excerpt from "HERO," a collaboration between me and fellow civil rights crank John Ringo:

The Tular Posleen were a settled, trustworthy race who only rarely ate sentient creatures, and even then only other Posleen, and kept to their own planets. The ferals left behind on a hundred planets were simply ravening beasts to be exterminated. And anyone on such a planet who didn't carry a weapon stayed close to those who did.

That had been part of what pushed Islendia, her thirty odd Republic planets and similar number of colonies over the edge to rebellion. Earth had wanted to resume the strict weapon controls and environmental standards it had been working on before the Posleen invasion. At which the blighted and struggling worlds of the Fringe had screamed bloody murder. Not drain a swamp because it might "damage the natural balance," when such balance was already screwed by the presence of Posleen in the bog? Not bloody likely. And suggesting one seek permission for an AI guided autocannon with antimatter shells to deal with said Posleen, just because some Earth bureaucrat thought they were "inappropriate" for civilians wasn't a concept to win the hearts and minds of the Fringers.

We're hoping Sarah Grabby or her ilk will wet their panties screaming, then give us lots of negative reviews on Amazon. Because vitriol from people like that is one of the best ways to make the NYT bestseller list.
:neener: :D

Look for it in June 2004 at your favorite bookstore. Make us rich, P!$$ off an anti. BWUAHAHAHAHAHAhahahahaha!

would that be a continuation of "Hymn Before Battle", "Gust Front", etc? I like that series... good fun!

Interesting. I thought Ringo had decided to give that series a break for a while and work on other projects? What's this story going to appear in? I'll have to look for it.

And yeah, for those who have no idea what we're talking about, go grab a copy of A Hymn Before Battle (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0671318411/qid=1068594534/sr=8-4/ref=sr_8_4/002-2733937-8456853?v=glance&n=507846) by John Ringo. It's the first book of a trilogy, and you'll probably find yourself looking for the 2nd and 3rd volumes very quickly.

I can also recommend a series of books he's co-written with David Weber, which starts off with March Upcountry (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0743435389/qid=1068594620/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/002-2733937-8456853?v=glance&s=books) Lots of good action. If you're familiar with Mr. Weber and Mr. Ringo's work you can definitely see the influence of each on the story.

Yes, same universe, and it's 1000 years later. John and I collaborated.

And Julie Cochrane collaborated with him on "Cally's War" which will be out in September.

And A Hymn Before Battle is available for free, unencrypted download on Baen's site at: http://baen.com/library/0671318411/0671318411.htm (AHBB)

just finished "When the Devil Dances". I gotta ask... you have any idea when/if we get another sequel?

And I tried downloading the Palm version of several Baen books, and got very garbled stuff. Don't know what the problem is...

So where's it being published? What title?

Woo hoo! Cally definitely has potential beyond being a secondary character, as does her grandfather. This I am definitely looking forward to reading.

I love Baen books. They've stood some publishing concepts on their heads with this practice. They're giving some books away and their sales are skyrocketing as a result.
