hey I just purchased a Ranger break action 12 gauge shotgun for $50. The only identification on the shotgun is Ranger and the serial #486 could someone please tell me any additional information on this shotgun.

I've got an old Stevens shotgun that looks nearly identical to that. I have no idea how old it is since I got it in a trade back in the mid-1960's and it had seen a lot of use already at that time.

They're simple and solid guns, but the 12 gauge models kick ferociously unless you stick to lighter loads.
