Which aftermarket sights as in fiber optic and adjustable rear sights will fit this pistol without major gunsmith work?

I'd like to help, but can't.
Norinco firearms have not been sold in the U.S. since the terrorist arms sale sting in 1994, and the falling out with China during the Clinton administration.
Since then, Norenco has expanded their 1911 offerings, and now have at least 10 different models for sale in Canada.
Some have tenon front sights staked in place like the original 1911, and others have dovetail mounted sights front & rear.
Even then, I don't know if they used small tenon or large tenon front sights?
Or mil-spec, Bomar, Novac, or one of many other U.S. standards.
Or Chinese metric dovetails?
You might want to find a gunsmith locally who can measure & offer advice.

Take some pics of the slide close up. I took a look on marstar's catalogue. Couldn't see the slide real well but looks like the rear is dovetailed and I couldn't see the front sight well at all. Worst to worst a gunsmith could cut a dove tail for pretty short money, and shop around for sights, you can get some good deals on them.

They sell Norinco's all day long in the US
it depends what your factory sights are, rear is more than likely dovetail very common on norinco 1911's the front is probaly post, you can disassemble your slide and turn it upside down and look at where your front sight should be and you should see a small square cut. If I'm correct than rear sights are easlily found, but you would need a sight fixture tool to remove and add sights. The front sight can be modified for dovetail with a special cutter and a mill for $80-100 by a gunsmith or hand file it if your comfortable with files check youtube's midway usa videos on "how to file a dovetail" (for a rifle but can be for pistol too just more tidious) I would not suggest mix matching front/ rear sight so try to find a set. You can find a set that has dovetail rear and post front check Wilson Combat, Brownells, Midway USA. Would'nt hurt to measure the width of your rear sight before ordering so you dont have to modify the rear too. Hope it helps

Hey, thanks for all the suggestions. Looks like a dovetail on the rear and post on the front. Probably will go the gunsmith route and have them cut a dovetail for the front.

The Norinco 1911 copies have been banned in this country since 1994/5. There has not been a new one imported since then.
Grumpy - I *think* the front post is a wide tenon, and the rear is a standard GI dovetail. I say "think" as it has been 15 years since I did this on mine but that is what I recall; I put on some tall combat three-dot sights (akin to what comes stock on current 1991 model Colts). This is presuming yours is the base "GI" model Norinco and not one of the newer models with various sight arrangements like rcmodel pointed out are in the Canadian market. We never saw those in the US.

Norinco's have been banned from import, not sale in the U.S. I have one 1911 bought March of 09 and a Norinco 9x18 from my local gunshop both pistols was in like new condition when I bought them. As I stated in an earlier post, you can buy them all day long in the US

Well duh!
I was saying there is no new Norenco's imported to the U.S. any longer.
Thus, no NEW Norenco's sold in the U.S. anymore, to look at to guess what sight mounting method they might be using in Canada now.
Not that you can't buy used guns.
But I suspect you already knew what I was saying. :scrutiny:

I've seen most every kind of government model sight used on a Norinco. Like all government models they require fitting. I try to always do modifications to sight instead of slide. I'm pretty sure but not positive that all the Norincos' I've worked on was small tenion for front sight.
I think the forged Norinco is better that most investment cast 1911's and good enough to build a fairly decent tactical weapon, although some parts replacement are necessary. One I worked on had really poor rifling and I had to install a Bar-Sto, but another was fitted at the hood almost perfect and only required some welding for link lug surface fitting.

Norinco are very good 1911s for the price. Most sights can be modified to fit a Norinco if you have skill with a file. Personally I would stick with standard metallic sights if this is to be a carry gun.
