On your photobucket album, make sure you're logged in, and go to the desired photo, and there will be a drop down box, listing the "direct link". Copy that (I have mine pretty well memorized by now...).

Come here and type and then paste the direct link or type it in and then type immediately after that (or click the little icon above that looks like a picture of a mountain and type the link in there). There you have it.

For example, I would type and then http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v326/Fatdutchman/Flintlocks/Reading/IM000206.jpg and then type and the photo will come up

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v326/Fatdutchman/Flintlocks/Reading/IM000206.jpg

Photobucket is case-sensitive, by the way, so if it is capitalized, you must type it capitalized or it doesn't work. ;)

MOST bulletin boards will work the same way, but not all.

Alternatively, you can just click the http://www.thehighroad.org/images/editor/insertimage.gif button, and paste that direct link into the box that comes up and it'll make the IMG tags for you.

Oh, and on Photobucket, below the direct link is also a box with the IMG tags already attached. You can simply paste that into your post.

Keep in mind that people can back track to your albums from your image links if your album is open. For example, we now know that Stophel likes Rhonda Vincent.
If your album is open you likely don't care...but I thought I'd throw that out for you.

Thanks but no thanks..If they can see pictures at all it will be some about 5 years old. Nonetheless, Photobucket will never be open again except for my private viewing. I'vd deleted copies of the photo I was trying to publish and changed my password around and also worked out a private code with Photobucket to protect my property....

My albums are open. I link to them often and invite people to browse. I often have information that is helpful to people. In fact, that's about all I use it for.

And Rhonda Vincent is AWESOME.

You can adjust that in your account to make the albums private. Direct links like the above will work, but the hoi polloi will not be able to browse them. I wish I could make one sub-album public, and another private, but I can't see where they'll do that. It's all or nothing. I guess I could register another album account entirely.

They are set up to be private and no browsing or making and leaving comments.,.WHO is Rhonda Vincent?....

You can make sub albums private if the default album is open, but you can't make sub albums open if the default album is private.

I just like to warn people about that because a lot of people who are less technically inclined don't realize you can just cut off the end of a picture url and see their whole album.

Well, appreciate it. Hell, if they seen mine they sure didn't see much. However, just so they'll know for sure, that good looking man in the Dodge truck is me....

Will someone please give me EXPLICIT and STEP BY STEP instructions

Simplist way I know is this, 5 mouse clicks...no typing;
* Open the album, find the picture you want.
* Put the cursor on the picture to cause the "links options" drop down box to appear.
* Hold the cursor over the bottom selection "IMG CODE", left click to highlite, right click, select COPY.
* Return to the forum, right click again, select paste and magic...there's your pic...in link code until you post.

My albums are public. I'm no photographer, but I've got lots of crappy pics. :) If it's on the internet, there exists no privacy, so feel free to look, I don't care.

They may have gotten into mine (old ones) a few minutes ago, but I guarantee ya'll they won't get into them now come hell or high water....To hell with it anyway. Even if my computer crashes I'vd got everything backed up off site and I'm not talking about Photobucket. I'm talking about professionals....
